POSITION SUMMARY:


Reporting to the Director, Strategic Sourcing, the Indirect Category Manager is responsible for all aspects of category management for strategic indirect and complex purchase categories across all business units in North America.

You will be responsible for development and execution of Indirect Category Strategies. The position has high visibility within the organization and offers the chance to be a part of the growing Global Supply Chain Team of Dorman Products an Automotive Aftermarket Spares Distributor in North America. This is a critical role, focusing on sourcing and procurement support for our Light-Duty and Heavy-Duty product categories / projects.


PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES
:


  • Lead the development and rollout of an Indirect Category Management and Strategic Sourcing process across all US business/sites.
  • Develop and deploy strategies that optimize the quality/performance of purchased materials/services at the lowest total cost for the following spend categories.
    • Capital Purchases
    • IT Equipment
    • Office Suppliers
    • Equipment Rentals
    • MRO
    • Travel
    • Consulting/Professional Services


  • Work with functions to assess their needs and find qualified suppliers that meet or exceed those needs and completive pricing.
  • Identify projects to reduce cost and/or improve the quality/performance of materials/services procured.
  • This individual will have responsibility for managing the Supplier Diversity and Minority business engagement programs to ensure process agility and sustainability
  • Develop and maintain ongoing KPI reports and regular, consistent stakeholder engagement for each assigned category; collect and manage data from external (suppliers) resources as well as other industry benchmarks and internal purchasing resources
  • Engage with stakeholders to support in supplier meetings to track service levels, compliance, and opportunities for improvements/incremental cost savings
  • Maintain an understanding of industry purchasing best practices, sustainability and technology trends and educate team members and business partners for indirect categories
  • Understand applicable company policy and ensure personal and team compliance including the purchasing policy and procedures
  • Ability to make data-driven decisions or recommendations and align decisions with strategies


QUALIFICATIONS/EXPERIENCE
:


  • Minimum 10+ years of Procurement experience managing indirect spend.
  • BS/BA in engineering, business or technical discipline. An MBA is highly desired.
  • Extensive experience strategically managing Capital Purchases, IT Equipment, Office Suppliers, Equipment Rentals, MRO, Travel, Consulting/Professional Services
  • Experience with eSourcing software and reverse auctions desired.
  • Broad knowledge of the global marketplace and technologies for assigned commodities
  • Ability to lead strategic sourcing, vendor development/management, RFX events, advanced sourcing, new product introduction, pricing, and terms negotiations.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional global teams in a dynamic work environment.
  • Proven abilities to drive sustainable supplier quality, delivery and cost improvements.
  • Certification in APICS CPIM and ISM SPSM is desired.
  • Willingness to travel 10% - 20%.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, including the ability to present frequently to Senior Leadership teams.
