Job Summary and Qualifications

As an Emergency Department (ED) Registered Nurse (RN), you will conduct initial and ongoing assessment of the patient, develop a family-centered patient care plan, and identify and correct variances from the patient care path. You will also be responsible for discharge planning.

  • You will assess and evaluate patient needs
  • You will provide health care teaching, as well as psychological and social support to the patient and their families
  • You will ensure that all physician orders for patients are noted and correctly transcribed
  • You will keep the physician, Emergency Department (ED) Director, Manager, Supervisor, and/or Charge Nurse aware of significant information regarding the patient and their family
  • You will facilitate interdisciplinary discharge planning by identifying needs, assisting with discharge teaching, and coordinating families and other services

Experience

  • 1 year of clinical nursing experience as a Registered Nurse (RN)

Education

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing (ADN) from an accredited nursing program
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) – preferred

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Current State of Texas Registered Nurse (RN) license or Compact Registered Nursing License. If Compact License, Texas license must be obtained within 90 days of hire
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) OR Advanced Life Support (ALS) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy within 6 months of hire
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) OR Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course (ENCP) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy required within 12 months of hire
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy required within 12 months of hire
  • National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification per St. David’s Healthcare policy required within 6 months of hire

This role requires you to be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 based on local, state and /or federal law or regulations (unless a medical or religious exemption is approved).

St. David’s Round Rock Medical Centeris a150+ bedacute-care facility located north of Austin, Texas. This comprehensive medical center features theonly hybrid operating room in the county, a 24-hour emergency department with aLevel II trauma center, and leading-edge cardiac care through the Heart Hospital of Austin at St. David’s Round Rock. Patients may also receive care related to rehabilitation services, women’s services, cancer care, neurology, joint replacement and orthotics,and morewhen visiting this facility.
