In this exciting role as a Biostatistician, the incumbent will leverage his/her knowledge and experience in statistical methods and SAS skills to support all statistical activities in clinical studies. You will join an established team, as a part of the centralized Biostatistics Operations function. Partnering with a Statistical Programming team, the groups support clinical studies in the global operating units and conduct efforts in data-based clinical evidence generation including and not limited to one hospital data analysis. This role reports to the Manager of Biostatistics, at Medtronic Core Clinical Solutions (MC2), Global Clinical Data Solutions (GCDS) organization.

This role can be remote based, located anywhere in Italy.

A Day in the Life

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.

  • Executes biostatistical components of plans for research and development projects that establish the conditions essential for determining safety, efficacy, and marketability of medical device products.
  • Uses sound statistical methodology to conduct studies relating to the life cycle of the product.
  • Summarizes data into tabular and graphical formats amenable to principles of statistical inference and is responsible for the statistical component of reports describing studies, outcomes and methods used.
  • Provides specifications and directions to the clinicians/statistical programmers.

Must Have (Minimum Requirements):
To be considered for this role, the minimum requirements must be evident on your resume.
  • Bachelor’s degree required and a minimum of 2 years of statistical experience in clinical trial design and/or clinical data analysis within the healthcare industry/academia, or advanced degree with a minimum of 1 years of statistical experience in clinical trial design and/or clinical data analysis within the healthcare industry/academia

Nice to Have (Desired/Preferred Qualifications):
  • Master’s degree in Biostatistics, Statistics, or Epidemiology
  • 2+ years of statistics experience within Clinical Research Organization (CRO) service or medical device industry
  • Highly proficient in SAS programming skills for working closely with statistical programmers
  • Experience in Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and/or regulatory compliance guidelines for clinical trials and medical devices (e.g. ISO, MDD/MDR)
  • Knowledgeable regarding research data management and relational database
  • High level of competency in Windows environment and with Microsoft Office Tools (Word, Excel)
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate technical content to non-statisticians (written and verbal)
  • Well-developed interpersonal and collaborative skills.
  • Team player, willing to go the extra distance to get results, meet deadlines, etc.
  • To be flexible when priorities change and deal with ambiguity.
