Essential Job Duties
The primary duty of this Extension Assistant role is to support initial development of a pilot Data Science Extension project at NC State University. This project will be implemented in collaboration with NC State University Extension and researchers in the Department of Biological and Agricultural Engineering (BAE) at NC State University. This project is soft funded by the United Soybean Board and may conclude in September 2023. Remote workers are encouraged to apply.
The successful candidate is expected to apply survey results to develop hands-on data science-focused Extension training materials for soybean growers and Extension agents, and co-write reports, peer reviewed publications, and Extension fact sheets. Example data science-focused Extension training materials may include but are not limited to accessing and applying weather and climate datasets to make planting and fertilizing decisions or accessing and applying satellite imagery to assess crop water stress and disease spread. The developed content will be delivered in person, remote, or by learning management systems.
