Overview:
As a leader in the quick service industry, Chick-fil-A strives to be best-in-class in its verification of product quality. This role is responsible for managing the Supplier Quality and Safety onsite lab. The person in this role will be responsible for ensuring the day to day running of a lab where physical quality audits of poultry products and other non-poultry products are conducted and will partner with Chick-fil-A’s internal stakeholders and external 3rd party auditors to proactively address quality issues and solve challenges. The role will support adherence to physical audit SOP’s and ensure opportunities with product quality are properly communicated to internal stakeholders. This requires a proactive, self-starter mindset with a tenacious drive to deliver meaningful outcomes. By leveraging experiential knowledge, and thinking outside of the box for solutions, this role will support 3rd party auditors and internal stakeholders to ensure quality data is obtained from physical product audits in order to provide the necessary feedback to transform the products sourced by Chick-fil-A from the poultry industry.

Responsibilities:
Serve as Onsite Lab Leader for Supplier Quality and Safety (SQS) team
o 3rd Party Auditor (3PA) management in the lab- 1 point of contact for a vendor.
o Quality Assurance (QA) Lab main point of contact for CFA staff
o Ensure all QA Lab users are adhering to Offsite Thaw Pilot (OTP) safety and rules- includes safety training, proper GMP adherence, access to lab
o Coordinate larger SQS monthly cuttings/showings/calibrations/specification testing
o Ensure QA Lab is stocked with essentials to audit product
o Ensure QA Lab has operational and calibrated tools and equipment (scales, calipers, templates, etc)

Attendance 75%+ in QA Lab to work hands on with 3PA in the lab
o Ensure 3PA SOP adherence
o Maintain and update Onsite lab SOP’s
o Answer and act on questions on product timing and quantities for the lab
o Communication with Leads on potential SOP/Spec changes from their increased hands on product reviews
o Ensure equipment in lab is in working order- thaw cabinet temps, dishwasher etc.

Inventory Tracking
Manage inventory and tracking for SQS Team projects for all products
Coordinate with onsite inventory team support for receiving, logging, and managing product storage
Coordinate with SQS leads in regards to product timelines within storage
Coordinate with Chick-fil-A Shipping and Receiving Team
Product Ordering platform
Manage Ordering for all SQS Product Cuttings and Special Projects
Manage Chicken Product Ordering for CFA needs including but not limited to Test Kitchen, Production Design, etc.

Liaison for Leads to onsite 3PA
o Attend weekly 3PA calls to ensure any opportunities with product quality are appropriately communicated to leads so they can handle directly with their suppliers. Report back suggestions to SOP modifications.
o Quarterly on-site visits with 3PA auditors to ensure SOP compliance
o Clear direction to 3PA and internal analyst on data transmissions ensuring seamless and quick data turnaround

Works closely with leads on product monthly cuttings/ showings/calibrations/specification testing
o Schedule monthly cuttings and obtain product and space reservation
o Help with data and audit collection along with collaboration on how to change/improve SOP’s to reflect spec changes

Quarterly/Bi-Annual Calibration sessions with 3PA onsite
o Coordination of meetings with 3PA’s with leads to audit product together, review SOP’s, and make changes that we agree are necessary from our calibration session
Minimum Qualifications:
  • 3 years of related experience
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience working in lab preferred
  • Food Science or Poultry Degree preferred
Minimum Years of Experience: 3 Travel Requirements: 25% Required Level of Education: Bachelor's Degree Preferred Level of Education: Masters Degree
