Job Title : Sr. Project Manager(Certified Project Manager)

Location : Remote - Time Zone : CST

Job Description:

20% - Manage and coordinate IT project related activities according to Departments methodology.

  • Creates project charter and develops the project scope.
  • Responsible for tracking and reporting on the overall progress on the project.
  • Creates and maintains the project plan.
  • Gets customer approval of the project charter and requirements.
  • Responsible for delivery of the technical business solution.
  • Responsible for getting the approval of the customer at the completion of the project.
  • Provide customers and management with regular reports regarding status of the project.
  • Work with the customer to identify and mitigate risks associated with a project.
  • Responsible for all stages of assigned systems development and support projects.
  • Identify and maintain necessary project resources and coordinate project schedules.
  • Ensure appropriate project communications are established and maintained within the team and throughout the department.
  • Provide feedback on project team performance to management.
  • Ensure State and vendor produced deliverables are prepared in accordance with Department standards.

20% - Assist customers and partners in the identification and effective resolution of IT needs.

  • Identify the most cost effective and feasible solutions to customers for IT processing purposes.
  • Serve as the liaison between the customer and the technology staff. Follow up with external users of systems to assure system design specifications are correct and agreed upon.
  • Assist customers with translating their security considerations into applications security specifications.
  • Work with customers to determine business process engineering/ re-engineering needs as assigned, or as indicated in current efforts.
  • Favorably represent the Team by maintaining a true business partnership with customers at all times.

35% - Perform complex system analysis and requirement studies to develop new applications and/or enhance existing computer systems and programs.

  • Analyze existing systems and procedures by examining functions, organizational structure, personnel and job responsibilities, information flow, and computer equipment.
  • Assess the best way to use packaged software to meet needs of the business area.
  • Ensure compliance with requirements.
  • Gather data through interview, survey, and on-site observation, working with staff from teams and institutions.
  • Conduct cost effectiveness studies for a variety of systems and procedural problem areas.
  • Evaluate and provide documentation outlining the implementation of new systems and procedures.
  • Predict systems and program changes and define resources for planning and budgeting.
  • Determine agency equipment needs and ensure compatibility.
  • Works with technical staff to recommend appropriate system architecture and hardware/software platforms for applications.
  • Works with business and technical staff to ensure all business requirements within the technology solution are tested.

25% - Provides advice and assistance related to IT Project Governance

  • Utilize established project portfolio management tools to help align projects to the DPI’s strategic plan.
  • Assist with technology resource supply and demand reporting and forecasting.
  • Maintain knowledge of current system architectures, methodologies, and frameworks.
  • Maintain knowledge of process analysis and reengineering techniques.
  • Keep abreast of applicable DPI and State standards.
  • Helps with team strategic planning.
  • Assist with development and promoting use of SDLC standards and techniques.
  • Assist with the management of the Team’s project portfolio.

Top Skills & Years of Experience: 5+ years of experience in the following:

- Project Portfolio management

- Large and complex project management

- Establishes and implements project management processes and methodologies for the IT community

Nice to have Experience:

- Strong communication (written and verbal) for project proposals

- Ability to work with varied stakeholders

- Ability to communicate complex IT projects with all levels of IT experience

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $55.00 per hour
