Location: 1114 W. Schick Rd, Bartlett, IL

Compensation: Salary Range $17.00 – 18.00 per hour, dependent upon qualifications

Job Description:

Job Summary:

The Patient Service Representative serves as the customer service liaison for patients receiving care at Suburban Physical Therapy. The position involves communicating with patients in person or over the phone, scheduling patients, verifying benefits, acquiring treatment authorization, and/or collecting receipts for service.

Duties/Responsibilities:

Customer Care

· Serves as the customer service liaison for patients receiving care at Suburban Physical Therapy.

· Ensures all patients and clinic visitors feel welcome and fully supported throughout their experience.

· Provides each patient with the attention and interaction needed to ensure our Putting Patients First Philosophy.

· Quickly and effectively answers patient inquiries and successfully resolves any patient concerns as they arise.

· Ensures the front desk and waiting area of the clinic are presented in a clean and organized manner with a focus on creating a positive first impression for our patients and visitors.

· Collaborates with other patient care representatives, the Patient Service Manager, and Facility Manager to create activities for optimizing patient engagement at the clinic level.

· Runs inactivity reports in the practice management system and distributes to the appropriate clinician to determine if further visits are required or to process discharge from physical therapy.

· Other duties as assigned.

Patient Information, Scheduling, & Visit Management

· Schedules appointments for new and returning patients, via phone, facility visit, and the patient portal.

· Gathers new patient information for the completion of the patient intake form. This includes obtaining signatures from patients to authorize treatment and billing per the Suburban Physical Therapy financial policy.

· Obtains quote of benefits for patient insurance coverage and communicates to patient benefit level limitations, relaying any quote of patient responsibilities noted by contract or policy limitation to the patient.

· Communicates with the physical therapist, Patient Service Manager, or Facility Manager regarding patient benefit limitations.

· Obtains any referrals, scripts, and/or authorizations from responsible parties as required for appropriate payment.

· Other duties as assigned.

Over-the-Counter Receipts

· Collects and processes co-payments and coinsurances made by cash, check or credit card at time of service as outlined by the subscriber’s insurance policy and issues receipts for all payments received.

· Logs and maintains daily deposits for accounts receivable review.

· Other duties as assigned.

Documentation

· Scans all patient information

· Faxes and tracks return of completed documentation notes.

· Other duties as assigned.

Professionalism/Ethics/Compliance Functions

· Adheres to the established organizational policies and procedures of Suburban Orthopaedics,

including the Employee Handbook, Code of Conduct, and HIPAA guidelines. This includes acceptance of the responsibility to report to the appropriate person(s) any suspected unethical, incompetent, or illegal activities or conduct.

  • Maintains professionalism and a positive attitude in the workplace, including teamwork and co-

worker relations.

  • Exhibits flexibility by a willingness to rotate through selected sites when necessary and as requested

to meet organization needs.

  • Completes and submits all reports, documents, and requests for information as per processing

procedures and deadline requirements.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Demonstrates the ability to effectively interact with the healthcare team, coworkers, supervisors, and all members of the Senior Management Team

· Must possess effective written and verbal communication skills.

· Must be skilled in planning/organization, follow-up/control, delegation, problem-solving, self-

development orientation, organizational behaviors/competencies, and stress tolerance.

· Must possess the ability to exhibit professionalism, teamwork, and a positive attitude in the

workplace.

· Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.

· Bilingual preferred.

Education and Experience:

· High School Diploma or equivalent required.

· Previous medical office or health care experience preferred.

Physical Requirements:

· Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

· Repetitive motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.

· Moving about to accomplish tasks or moving from one worksite to another.

· Communicating with others to exchange information.

· Ability to bend, reach or squat.
