Hours: Full-time; Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 5:00pm

Maas Energy Works is the leading developer and operator of on-farm, waste-to-energy systems on the west coast. The Company designs, develops, constructs, and operates biogas powered renewable energy generation systems on dairy farms. Our projects include anaerobic digesters, biogas-powered electric generation, and renewable compressed natural gas upgrading.

Position Description:

The Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for design and management of the mechanical design of a new biogas upgrading skid developed by Maas Energy Works. The biogas upgrading skid will include biogas compression, chilling, CO2 removal, gas analysis, measurement, and other processes needed to upgrade biogas to biomethane for delivering into the natural gas pipeline or compressed trailers. The Mechanical Engineer will work with the product manager, equipment vendors, fabrication team, and other stakeholders to develop the mechanical design of the biogas skid and then provide engineering support to assembly, commissioning, and operations. The Mechanical Engineer will need to understand all applicable codes for designing valves, piping, skids, and other mechanical equipment needed to assemble and operate a biogas upgrading skid.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform a full lifecycle product development (design, develop, test prototypes, manufacture and implement)
  • Design systems and components that meet needs and requirements
  • Produce outline designs
  • Conduct experiments methodically, analyze data and interpret results
  • Test and evaluate theoretical designs
  • Identify, formulate and produce effective solutions to emerging problems
  • Evaluate final product’s overall performance, reliability and safety
  • Alter and modify design to meet requirements and to eliminate malfunctions
  • Estimate budget and scope of project
  • Solicit observations from operators
  • Prepare product reports and documentation
  • Engage in lifelong learning and develop new theories or methods
  • 5+ years of relevant oil/gas engineering experience and practical application of engineering principles preferred

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proven working experience in mechanical engineering
  • Working experience with product lifecycle management (PLM), finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
  • Hands-on experience with computer-aided engineering (CAM) and computer-aided manufacturing (CAE)
  • Familiarity with 2D or 3D engineering design and manufacturing tools (e.g., AutoCAD, ProE or other)
  • Adequate knowledge of engineering analysis tools (ANSYS, ProMechanica or similar)
  • Mathematical computing and analysis tools knowledge (Matlab, Excel, LabView etc)
  • Solid understanding of core concepts including mechanics, kinematics, thermodynamics, materials science etc.
  • Creativity and analytical skills
  • Ability to communicate technical knowledge in a clear and understandable manner
  • Technical writing skills
  • BS degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • Must be proficient in English

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $83,200.00 - $136,500.00 per year
