Job description

About Us: At Playful Learners Preschool, we're not just a team, we're a family. Our passion for early childhood education and commitment to providing the best possible care for our children is what sets us apart from the rest. We invest in our staff's professional development and provide a supportive and collaborative work environment where everyone can thrive.

Job Description: We're currently on the hunt for an Infant Teacher who's passionate about making a difference in the lives of young children. If you're someone who loves to play, has a sense of humor, and is dedicated to fostering a love of learning in little ones, then we want you on our team.

Responsibilities:

  • Create a safe and nurturing environment for our littlest learners
  • Plan and implement engaging and developmentally appropriate activities and experiences
  • Communicate effectively with parents and caregivers (we promise not to judge you if you have to sing "Wheels on the bus" for the umpteenth time)
  • Keep accurate and up-to-date records on each child's progress and development (don't worry, we won't judge your handwriting either)
  • Collaborate with other teachers and staff members to ensure the highest quality of care and education (we're a team, and teamwork makes the dream work!)

Qualifications:

  • Preference for those with a CDA or equivalent in Early Childhood Education (because we take our little ones' education seriously)
  • At least one year of experience working with infants (because you need to know how to change a diaper without getting sprayed)
  • Knowledge of child development and early childhood education best practices (because we don't want to accidentally teach a one-year-old calculus)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills (because sometimes you have to communicate with a parent who's had a long day and just needs to vent)
  • Sense of humor (because, let's face it, working with babies can be messy, but it's also pretty darn hilarious)

Benefits: We know that our staff members are the heart and soul of our organization, which is why we offer:

  • Competitive salary and benefits package (because we know that you've got bills to pay)
  • Opportunities for professional development and continuing education (because we want you to grow and succeed)
  • Supportive and collaborative work environment (because we're a team, and we're in this together)
  • The opportunity to make a difference in the lives of young children (because there's nothing more rewarding than watching a child learn and grow)Paid time off and holidays (because everyone needs a break from time to time)
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance (because we care about your well-being)
  • Positive and collaborative environment with room for growth (because we want you to thrive)
  • Opportunities for bonuses (because we want to recognize your hard work and dedication)
  • Significantly reduced childcare tuition (because we want to make childcare more affordable for our staff members)
  • Paid yearly attendance to the Virginia Association for Early Childhood Education Conference (because we want to stay up-to-date on the latest research and best practices)
  • Childcare discounts (because we know that finding affordable childcare can be a challenge)
  • and coming soon: 401(k) retirement plan (because it's never too early to start planning for the future)

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • Creating responsive, safe, joyful, and nurturing learning environments for children that foster inquiry, exploration, learning & reflection.
  • Document children’s learning through photographs, anecdotes, panels, and mini-stories.
  • Available to work morning and/or afternoon shifts (7:00 am – 5:30 pm).
  • Strong oral and written communication with parents, children, and co-teachers.
  • Helping with preparing, arranging, cleaning, and maintaining indoor and outdoor activity areas and materials to accommodate daily schedules.
