Healthcare Chief Development Officer

Job description

An established acute care medical center located just outside of the Greater Boston region is currently searching for an experienced Chief Development Officer to join their award-winning healthcare team.

This acute care medical center is home to nearly 150-beds and provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services. This state-of-the-art medical facility is equipped to offer a variety of services including emergency and urgent care, primary care, perioperative services, oncology, pediatrics, and women’s health services. This not-for-profit system is proud to provide compassionate local care that consistently exceeds patients’ expectations.

This is an exciting opportunity to advance a vibrant community hospital and its ambitious goals in care delivery to the residents of Southeastern Massachusetts and adjacent communities in Rhode Island.

Reporting to the President/CEO, the CDO, will lead all philanthropy efforts supporting The Hospital. The CDO will provide overall strategic direction and operational leadership for philanthropy across the health system. This includes creating, planning, coordinating and supporting the execution of successful initiatives in all areas of development, major gifts, grateful patient giving, planned giving, grants, events and leading a capital campaign.
The CDO will partner with a dynamic CEO and engaged board to promote a culture of philanthropy across the organization and with internal and external stakeholders. This position will require an energetic, well-connected, relationship-driven leader with demonstrated experience in leading capital campaigns from start to finish, and building out development teams and committees in a mission-driven setting. The CDO will be a collaborative, action-oriented professional who can communicate effectively and build lasting, strong relationships across the health system and communities it serves. Additionally, the CDO should bring a passion for philanthropy, and the positive impact philanthropy can make for patients and caregivers. The donation dollar significantly impacts a community hospital more than a large, urban health system. The CDO will need to be a go-getter who will be energized by the opportunity to build a lasting culture of philanthropy.

The successful candidate will possess at least a bachelor's degree with a minimum of 10 years of comprehensive fundraising management and leadership experience, preferably in a healthcare setting. Experience planning, implementing and launching a campaign will be required.

This acute care health system is located in between the Boston and Providence regions, making it any New Englander’s dream! This area is known to offer a dense suburban feel where you can find a number of coffee shops and parks to explore. The region offers great diversity, high-quality public schools and jobs, and a reasonable cost of living.

This respectable healthcare facility is prepared to offer a competitive salary including a suitable benefit package including relocation assistance and sign-on eligibility.
