    License and Certification Qualifications: None required.

    Education Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree in related field preferred.

    Experience Qualifications: Three years in an office/clerical environment required. Experience in business/finance and/or payroll preferred.

    Skills Qualifications: Ability to communicate with others in an effective and tactful manner; ability to exercise independent judgment, troubleshoot, and solve problems; ability to maintain records with high degree of accuracy; excellent interpersonal and human relations skills; ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals; ability to write routine correspondence; ability to speak effectively in one-on-one situations with employees; ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a high-volume processing environment; ability to represent Gwinnett County Public Schools in a positive and professional manner; strong computer skills with a working knowledge of Microsoft Office required; and knowledge of PeopleSoft preferred.

    Primary Responsibilities: Calculate, process and verify hourly, daily and annual salary calculations and payroll processing for bi-weekly, substitute, semi-monthly and monthly payroll cycles for all Transportation employees, including accounting for leave activity and application of the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA).

    1. Receive, process and verify salary, work hours changes and pay rate changes for all Transportation employees on bi-weekly, substitute, semi-monthly, and monthly payroll cycles.

    2. Verify payroll authorizations and salary, position code and location assignment against the district system-of-record (PeopleSoft) to ensure accurate payroll processing.

    3. Verify weekly time sheets for designated employees and research discrepancies in keying from hourly status versus actual hours worked into payroll processing database.
    a. Confirm and verify for accuracy the FLSA salary load each pay cycle.

    4. Receive, process, calculate and verify leave usage for designated employees, accounting for leave balance and working with the Transportation Leave team as appropriate to avoid dockages.
    a. Process leave upon receipt of route coverage sheets for all zones each morning.
    b. Coordinate with the Payroll Services Department as may be needed on legal leave documentation.

    5. Maintain payroll records for FLSA, leave accounting, temporary-miscellaneous and substitute activity according to the district records retention schedule.

    6. Present to audiences of varying size and make-up, providing front-line training to new and existing staff on payroll processing, timekeeping requirements, calculation of and application to FLSA, and returning retiree guidelines and restrictions.

    7. Track, process and verify correct application of various incentive payments for all Transportation employees throughout the school year, and through the summer months.
    a. Track and process eligibility status and payment of referral bonuses according to the service and payout schedule.
    b. Track and process payment of incentives for all Transportation employees, including summer programs.

    8. Provide front-line world-class customer service and support to all Transportation employees, including counseling employees over phone, email, and/or in person; responding to all inquiries in a timely manner and, when needed, acting as a liaison between the employee and the Payroll Services Department.

    9. Communicate with individuals in an efficient, businesslike, and courteous manner.

    10. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Physical Demands:
    While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit for extended periods of time. The employee is also required to talk, hear, stand, and walk. The employee may be required to use hands to touch, handle, feel, and/or reach. The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
