Role Overview

Customer Service Representative I

We are looking for:

The Customer Service Representative position plays an important role within Solvay. The position works day-to-day with our internal and external customers. This position also will also recruit and educate customers on order digital portals with a superior ability to effectively and efficiently multi-task in a fast paced environment when necessary.

We count on you for:

  • Manage customer master data requests specific to their assigned product portfolio or client base.
  • Receive and accurately process all order types (example: standard, return, consignment, credit, debits, etc.) and cancellations.
  • Ensure orders are confirmed with all ship locations (example: plants, warehouse and/or terminal) and confirm on-time delivery.
  • Initiate and conduct all follow up required between Commercial and customer to respond to customer needs.
  • Maintain effective written and verbal communications between sales, marketing, and logistics operations to effectively handle customer inquiries regarding price, product availability, and transportation methods and needs.
  • Provide backup coverage to team members as needed.
  • On Call rotation (every six weeks, including a weekend) of On Call duties among Customer Service Representatives.
  • Willingness to accept projects or new accounts to assist in improving immediate needs of the department.

You will bring:

  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor Degree preferred.
  • 3 years or more of customer service experience with experience working for a chemical manufacturing organization a plus.
  • Ability to work scheduled on-call coverage after-hours and on weekends per rotation (about every 6 weeks).
  • Experience using an ERP system required, experience with SAP’s Sales and Distribution functions and Salesforce is highly desired.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to multi-task, manage, and work in a dynamic, fluid customer driven, team environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to manage stress and stay calm under pressure.
  • Strong Customer Focus: must have an acute understanding of customers' needs and expectations.
  • Computer Skills: Execute G Suite, SAP transactions including but not limited to Sales Orders, Stock Transfers, Delivery, Shipment, Goods issue, shipment costs, goods receipt, create / update vendors, routes, purchase orders, and other relevant transactions.

You will get:

  • Competitive salary; salary range of $54,000-$65,000/annually. Since actual compensation packages are based on a variety of factors unique to each candidate we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted base salary range. Total compensation for this role also includes bonus and/or other incentives.
