Location: Hybrid (Local to Streetsboro, OH Headquarters)


Job Summary:

The Consumer Insights Analyst will have the opportunity to uncover and elevate consumer, shopper, and market insights with Step2. This role provides an opportunity to learn and grow quickly; ultimately owning the Business Insights function and associated responsibilities independently. The Insights Analyst will support cross-functional teams, including Sales, Marketing, eCommerce, Product Management, R&D, and HR. A variety of research methodologies and data sources – including but not limited to: primary research (quant and qual), secondary research, and sales data analysis – will be leveraged to answer business questions, identify opportunities, and provide customer sell-in support. The ideal candidate will be passionate about consumer insights, a talented storyteller, and excel in PowerPoint presentation creation. A degree of creativity is required.


Job Duties:

  • This role will need to proactively build working relationships within the organization and have the aptitude to independently lead projects by understanding business needs and translating data into concise, actionable takeaways
  • Ability to lead and manage on-going and ad-hoc projects, the majority of which are conducted in-house (scoping/designing, fieldwork management, analysis, reporting, presenting) and occasionally in conjunction with external research vendors, staying on track from both a budget and timing standpoint
    • Projects may include: identifying white space opportunities as we aggressively expand into new areas, consumer journey mapping to optimize all consumer touchpoints, competitive and trend analysis, concept testing, assessing seasonal product opportunities, supporting employee engagement, etc.
  • Design, program, field, analyze, and report/present custom-developed quantitative surveys to answer ad-hoc business needs as they arise
  • Digging into sales data to understand trends, identify risks, and translate into business opportunities
  • Strong storytelling abilities to provide distilled, impactful insight data, using a combination of sources that inform strategic business decisions
  • Proficient in PowerPoint, with the ability to create visually-engaging and impactful presentations
  • Serve as the lead support to the sales team, providing insights that illustrate how the company wins in specific categories, where there are growth opportunities, and support customer presentation preparation
  • Performs other projects or duties as assigned

Qualifications and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Analytics, or related field of study, required
  • Approx. 3-5 years of related (consumer insights/market research and PowerPoint presentation development) experience
  • Ability to travel (up to 5%)
  • Exceptional knowledge of MS Office applications including PowerPoint, Excel, and Word
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to distill and articulate complex information to a broad audience
  • A self-starter with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team environment; internal customer service focused
  • Quantitative custom survey development, programming and analysis (using tools such as Alchemer, SPSS, etc.)
  • Experience with brick and mortar and online retail as it relates to the sale and marketing of consumer products
  • Experience with retailer POS data and/or syndicated data (NPD, IRI, etc.) a plus

Work Environment:

Position is carried out primarily in an office environment, in a factory setting. Occasional need to lift light articles.
