SUMMARY: The Cloud Database Administrator III position will be responsible for assisting in the architecture, design, implementation, and support relating to the Bank's Cloud database environment. The position will assist in the management of development/deployment pipelines, general production support, environment optimization, and monitoring of various functional areas for SLA/billing/reporting metrics. The position will require cross business and IT team collaboration for automation scripting, infrastructure provisioning. Furthermore, it provides database management systems support for internal technology users throughout the company for mission critical systems as well as data marts. This position is also responsible for response to issues with system functions, report authoring support and ongoing rollout of systems that are dependent on the database management system.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties and special projects may be assigned.
  • Administers, maintains, develops, and implements policies and procedures for ensuring the security and integrity of the company Oracle databases
  • Elaborate and enforce database best practices, implement data retention policy, provision and deploy DB artifacts; provision access; resolve database performance and capacity issues, replication, and other distributed data issues
  • Performs installation tests and conducts evaluations of database patches and upgrades
  • Maintains database files and monitors database systems configuration to ensure data integrity
  • Establishes and maintains change control policies, procedures, and documentation for all database level updates
  • Creates and implements backup procedures
  • Hands-on on AWS and hybrid cloud infrastructure and operational solutions
  • Provide guidance on security configurations and risk and compliance procedures (Identity Management, Network Configuration, Data Protection, Segregation of Duties)
  • Manage storage, compute efficiency, and optimization activities, including evaluating configuration of compute size, storage solutions, and other service (network services, automation, and load balancing)
  • Coordinate with engineering and architecture teams to ensure continuity of solutions
  • Advise on best practices for improving operational processes
  • Interpret enterprise class assessments (objectives, data collection, analysis, and reporting against objectives)
  • Assist during all BCP/DR (Business Continuity / Disaster Recovery) activities (test or otherwise)
  • Promote the Data Modernization stack on AWS
  • Provide reliable, predictable deployment and maintenance of distributed systems adhering to security best practices
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of managing the Bank's Cloud Database Infrastructure/Services including deployment and upgrades, setup, administration, monitoring, incident resolution, problem management, configuration and change management, capacity planning, availability management, disaster recovery and routine update of services
  • Performs Capacity Analysis of database infrastructure/platforms
  • Ensure support for culture of continuous improvement, including identifying areas for potential improved automation and feeding back to relevant teams
  • Produce and maintain documentation to support solutions that have been developed/deployed to aid in the support of the solution
  • Acts as the technical liaison between operations teams, engineers, and architects, providing critical operational insight to upcoming implementations and strategies, including validating ongoing solutions supportability
  • Design and maintain production database monitoring tools, troubleshoot performance and stability issues
  • Create and maintain automated monitoring and reporting of cloud database infrastructure/services health, performance, and cost control
  • Monitor cloud database infrastructure to identify areas of improvement, reliability, cost savings, etc.
  • Develop/change SOP/Knowledge Article review for any new data service/feature launch or other significant change that may impact support documentation
  • Configuration management, review, and governance of Cloud data services/resources, identity and access management (IAM) roles, etc.
  • Adheres to and complies with applicable, federal and state laws, regulations and guidance, including those related to anti-money laundering (i.e. Bank Secrecy Act, US PATRIOT Act, etc.).
  • Adheres to Bank policies and procedures and completes required training.
  • Identifies and reports suspicious activity.
EDUCATION
College degree or equivalent work experience, which includes practical experience in Information Technology and IT Security Experience working in, or implementing organizations and operational processes to support cloud environments (DevOps)

EXPERIENCE
  • Ability to build relationships between the customers and the team members
  • Vendor management and engagement
  • 3+ years of experience in strategy, design, implementation, and support of IaaS and PaaS environments, specifically those leveraging AWS storage, compute, and network technologies
  • 2+ years in automation/configuration management using Puppet, Chef, Ansible, Terraform, CloudFormation or an equivalent
  • 2+ years with source code management tools such as GitHub, GitLab, Bitbucket or equivalent
  • 5+ years with SQL DBs such as SQL, MySQL, Amazon DynamoDB, Redshift, PostgreSQL, RDS, Oracle RDBMS
  • 3+ years of scripting skills in shell, Perl, Python, PowerShell
  • Experience in designing and implementing application and infrastructure monitoring (New Relic, CloudWatch, Datadog, or equivalent) and logging solutions (CloudTrail, Splunk, or equivalent)
  • Experience in High Availability and Disaster recovery implementations
  • A working understanding with CI/CD tools such as Jenkins, Bamboo or equivalent
  • Ability to build relationships between the customers and the team members

  • Working knowledge of AWS cloud and 3rd party data security controls and constructs: Experience with SIEM monitoring & logging tools and architectures (Splunk, Sumo Logic, etc) Experience with AWS IAM (roles, permissions, etc) Experience with AWS encryption and key management (KMS) across various data and storage mediums (S3, Redshift, etc) Experience with 3rd party data masking tools such as Dataguise or Oracle Data Redaction
  • Working knowledge of AWS cloud and other 3rd party data platforms: Experience with AWS data warehouse and database services (Redshift, RDS, Aurora, etc) Experience with AWS data transformation services (EMR, Glue, etc) Experience with Google Cloud data platform services (BigQuery, Looker, etc) Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Qlik, PowerBI, etc
  • Experience with data governance methodologies/technologies in a cloud and SaaS system environment
  • Experience designing the deployment of data systems and infrastructure into public cloud services
