JOB DESCRIPTION
Michael Baker International has an exciting opportunity for an entry level Civil Associate I with a focus on Rail & Transit to join our Philadelphia, PA office to provide services on a variety of transportation projects. You will leverage your engineering knowledge and skills to assist in the preparation of basic studies, construction documents, drawing, maps, reports and supporting documentation and calculations.

Responsibilities:

• Assist with the preparation of designs, design calculations, technical reports and drawings for rail and transit projects for a variety of clients.
• On some days, you will make field visits to project sites to investigate, record, and photograph local conditions.
• Work closely with senior engineers to complete design and/or analysis of transportation infrastructure.
• Prepare quantity calculations and construction cost estimates.
• Use design software to electronically apply engineering fundamentals in construction and right-of-way plan set preparation.
• Research/investigate solutions and report findings.
• Learn and understand the activities involved in assembling transportation project contract documents.
• Assist with document preparation for regulatory agencies to obtain required permits.

PROFESSIONAL REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering. Master's degree a plus.
• EIT certification desired.
• 0 - 2 + years of progressive rail and transit design with previous internship experience is a plus.
• Familiarity and experience with PennDOT, City of Philadelphia, SEPTA design standards is desirable.
• Ability to build relationships with a wide variety of people, multitask and prioritize competing project obligations.
• Strong English language skills, written and verbal are essential to long term success in this role.
• Quickly get up to speed on our policies, relevant software, company service offerings and client standards and procedures relevant to your projects.
• Proficient with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation and Microsoft Office Suite.

COMPENSATION

The salary range for this position is $63,326 - $67,000. This will be dependent on the experience and expertise of the incoming candidate.
