Summary:

Our primary care office is currently in the need of experienced medical assistants that are passionate about high quality patient care and to be an effective part of a team that develops employees for growth and opportunities.

The daily tasks include and are not limited to the following:

  • Provides assistance to the physician, mid-level providers, and patients;
  • Performs basic medical assistant procedures to patients prior to seeing the physician; Medical Assistants are responsible for knowing their scope of practice.
  • Assists in maintaining supply count and a safe clean environment.
  • Receives patients, takes and records chief complaint and prepares patient for examination; records blood pressure, pulse, respirations, pulse oximetry, height and weight.
  • Prepares patients for examinations or procedures including positioning, draping, shaving and disinfecting treatment sites; Prepares patients prior to telemedicine appointments with provider.
  • Explains to the patient the procedures that will be performed in an examination, a diagnostic test or treatment at the request of the provider.
  • Collects specimens, performs EKGs, collects blood samples as ordered by the provider; assists the physician with examination, treatments, minor surgery, dressing changes and injections as directed.
  • Assists the provider in the collection of specimens such as pap smears, throat cultures and covid swabs.
  • Prepares and replenishes supplies in the treatment room and exam rooms; maintain exam rooms in an orderly and constant state of readiness for incoming patients.
  • Sterilize instruments.
  • Perform Holter monitor demonstration as directed by provider.
  • Demonstrates willingness to assist co-workers whenever needed. Maintains good working relationship with all office staff.
  • Reviews patients records for accuracy and completion, prior to patient appointments.
  • Performs other office duties as needed.
  • Responsible for having current CPR card.
  • Willingness to rotate between Palm Desert and Indio offices.
  • Attend all staff meetings; Observe office policies and procedures
  • Provides compassionate quality care to all patients within the scope of practice outlined by state or federal law.
  • Understands the organizations commitment to provide high quality patient care.

Minimum Qualifications:

1. Graduate of approved high school or GED equivalent

2. Medical assistant certificate or signed training on venipuncture, infectious control, patient privacy and basic anatomy and physiology.

3. One year work experience.

4. EMR experience.

5. Bilingual in Spanish is a plus.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $17.00 - $18.00 per hour
