As a Barclays Backend Software Developer, you’ll be the brains behind the design, installation, testing and maintenance of existing and new systems. This is more than playing around with code; you will be playing a critical role in finding innovative solutions to complex problems, for our clients and customers daily. We are currently in the early stages of implementing a hybrid working environment, which means that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. What will you be doing?

• Knowledge in developing APIs and Web User Interfaces
• Experience knowledge in Core Languages (Java, React JS, JavaScript)
• Ability to dive deep into technical problems
• Knowledge with IaaS and PaaS providers such as AWS, OpenStack, Heroku, and Cloud Foundry
• Excellent problem-solving skills with an excellent attention to detail
• Experience with implementing test-drive development in large development teams
• Knowledge in Core Technologies (Microservices/ Serverless architectures, RESTful services, Docker)

What we’re looking for:

• BS/ BA/ Master’s degree or equivalent experience in computer science or engineering
• Experience in Core programming Languages Java, React JS, JavaScript
• Ability to solve critical technical problems while writing application code
• Knowledge in writing any of the scripting languages like Shell or Chef Scripts

Skills that will help you in the role:

• Demonstrated skill and interest in programming languages, development tools, algorithms, systems design, and architecture
• Experience in working in self-motivated scrum teams
• Knowledge in software development life cycle
• Solid written and verbal communication skills
