Van Leeuwen Ice Cream is hiring a full-time Retail Area Manager, based out of Washington D.C. This is a great opportunity for an experienced individual to work closely with the founding team of Van Leeuwen Ice Cream as the company embarks on its next stage of major growth. The ideal candidate is someone who is highly organized, passionate about operations, and can thrive in a fast-paced environment (and loves ice cream!).
The Area Manager will report directly to the VP of Retail Operations and will oversee our 5 locations scheduled to open in the D.C. Metro area. The Area Manager’s primary responsibility is to oversee the day-to-day operations of their assigned ice cream shops. The Area Manager will oversee logistics, staff performance and happiness, scheduling and labor, high-level payroll functions, quality of product, store profitability, store aesthetics and customer service.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Train, coach, supervise and provide support to assigned Store Leads and staff to achieve store metrics- Ensure successful rollout of new products, systems, practices and policies
- Communicate regularly with team members
- Work with HR to ensure all company policies are being followed
- Oversee staffing efforts with HR
- Analyze team performance and provide feedback, guidance, training and encouragement
- Provide operational solutions to issues that arise in the stores
- Assist Store Leads with order placement and delivery coordination
- Assist in monitoring overall customer experience
- Assist Store Leads with health department inspections and preparation
- Spend regular time in stores in order to fine-tune processes and keep tabs on employees
- Assume leadership role in stores where a Store Lead is not present
REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree preferred- 4+ years of experience in a multi-unit manager or area manager position required
- Experience launching a new marketing preferred but not required
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google-suite tools
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Excellent organizational skills
- Ability to train and coach team members of all levels
- Ability to multitask
