Shipping clerk

Supporting the Warehouse Manager and Shipping Supervisor with providing detail oriented, up-to-date information about goods moving in to and out of the warehouse. Coordinate work with team leads, drivers and other leaders within the organization to ensure goods are received, put-a-way, picked, loaded/shipped and billed timely.

Scope of Work

  • Support supervisor with all administrative activities related to shipping function including but not limited to; creation of bills of lading, stock transfer orders, invoice/billing, scheduling or rescheduling deliveries, communications with retail partners, corporate team, or carriers regarding loads
  • Run reports and provide status updates as requested
  • Check in truck drivers and route to specific loading lanes or to dropped trailers in the yard ready for collection
  • Print product pick lists and shipping labels for warehouse team
  • Completes forms and documents timely and accurately
  • Assists with audits
  • Ability to plan and communicate with various levels of the company, from the corporate office to floor labor frequently, while being flexible and professional
  • Pick product from the warehouse for live load trucks or stage for future pick-ups using paper pick list
  • Apply stickers to boxes prior to loading – shipping label, other identifying markers
  • Scan boxes prior to loading to confirm each truckload is correct
  • Move hand carts of various sizes, empty and full
  • Operate mobile equipment for picking or putting away finished goods and materials (training is provided)
  • Participate in general workstation clean up daily – general housekeeping
  • Participate in safety training and work in a safe manner to avoid injury to self or others
  • Any other duties assigned

Skill requirements

  • Ability to follow directions
  • Must be solutions oriented and flexible in approach
  • Ability to complete tasks accurately as assigned with a sense of urgency
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office tools (Word, Outlook, Excel)
  • Ability to learn/use SAP
  • Critical thinking and the ability to problem solve/troubleshoot challenges
  • Comfortable asking questions
  • Ability to become certified in use of mobile equipment: forklift, order picker, clamp truck

Physical requirements

  • Bend at waist

  • Lift up to 48lbs – from waist level to shoulder height and head level
  • Push, pull
  • Good manual dexterity
  • Sit 2.5-hour intervals, over an 8–10-hour shift
  • Periods of intense physical activity followed by periods of stationary office work
