About the Role:

Sound Physicians is looking for a dynamic, organized self-starter to join our Revenue Cycle department as Vice-President of Revenue Cycle (“VPRC”). Revenue Cycle is responsible for professional billing, vendor management, coding, quality assurance, and provider enrollment, among other activities. This includes, but is not limited to; charge capture, claims submission, accounts receivables, write-offs, denials management, patient financial services, medical records and payer analysis (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial, and Private Pay) This is a challenging role with the potential to make a large impact on the organization.

The VPRC is responsible for the strategic utilization of revenue cycle data to inform and partner with stakeholders across the Sound organization for all specialties. The revenue cycle data may be used for developing, planning, organizing and implementing strategies to optimize revenue for our hospital partners and to Sound Physicians. This position will work with direct reports and/or peers to develop analyses and processes to proactively support the business line and optimize revenue cycle outcomes. The department is responsible for monthly reporting at the service line and site level and will be held accountable for business line metrics and expected to introduce innovative ways to partner with stakeholders. This is a dynamic role that will interface with many departments across the organization as well as with our field operators and partners. The Vice-President role will be a linchpin for Business Development and Field Operations in seeking to understand and utilize real-time data and act as a Strategic Advisor for new business opportunities as well as contract renegotiations.

The VPRC will work with all lanes within Revenue Cycle to create innovative strategies for optimization of revenue.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Work cross functionally to develop fully informed views and insights into the drivers behind the data, and present findings clearly and concisely
  • Accurately gather, synthesize, analyze and communicate timely relevant information to support decision making and to develop process improvement strategies
  • Develop strategic plans for revenue cycle resources and ensure goals and objectives are properly defined, implemented and tracked.
  • Perform financial analysis of NPSR opportunities for service line at the location level and identify trends while delivering progressive solutions for innovation
  • Analyze fee for service (FFS) collection trending and proactively seek additional areas of revenue growth for defined service lines
  • Provide assistance in creating models that connect strategies to measures of performance
  • Identify opportunities for standardization and process improvement initiatives within Revenue Cycle and gain support for ideas and opportunities
  • Provide analytical support and develop tools for company operations to enhance their skills in detecting both current and future performance issues
  • Prepare narratives, Power Point presentations, graphs and reporting for field operations, clients, finance and revenue cycle.
  • Develop and present key insights in ad-hoc reports related to the revenue cycle and quickly pull our salient points
  • Handles complex patients’ complaints and issues by explaining company policies and guidelines as well as those involving compliance issues with state and federal regulations

  • Expert knowledge of revenue cycle, healthcare payment models, physician practice management, payer contracting, and managed care models with the ability to simplify complex data into digestible format for stakeholders
  • Strong background in federal and state laws and requirements relating to healthcare management

Education and Experience:

Education

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a related position

Experience

Minimum: 8-10 years of experience in revenue cycle with > 5 years of experience as director in revenue cycle with experience in at least 2 of Sounds business lines. Experience in a fast-paced and dynamic organization with specific experience in Anesthesia Medicine professional billing is preferred.
