Position Summary:

As a member of Hach’s Senior Leadership Team, the Vice President of Strategy will work closely with the President to define the business strategy and provide oversight and execution of our key enterprise strategic initiatives. The VP of Strategy will identify, assess, and develop plans to accelerate business growth and profitability through mergers, acquisitions, innovation partnerships, as well as organic opportunities. They will be responsible for and drive Hach’s strategic planning process and craft the long-term commercial success of new and existing products across the portfolio, supporting $1.6B revenue for Hach globally

The VP, Strategy will partner with the regional VP & GMs and global functional leaders to drive profitable revenue growth by implementing strategic initiatives, targeting attractive market segments, and spearheading our strategic pricing and share gain activities. They will assess current and future market conditions, conduct competitive analysis, and drive effective future product planning strategy in order to optimize share gain and profitability. A key to success in this role is to identify major changes in the business environment, customer base, and competitive landscape, and then convert these insights into specific strategies focused on extending Hach’s competitive advantages.

To accomplish these goals, it will be critical for the VP, Strategy to build a world-class team that leverages the Danaher Business System and is powered by Diversity & Inclusion. This includes identifying opportunities to “raise the bar” for both individuals and the team through effective coaching and engagement, as well as instilling a continuous improvement culture. They must be prepared to provide deep insight and best practices to help their direct reports grow. In addition, the VP of Strategy will make a personal investment in fostering internal relationships to nurture a culture based on respect, teamwork, communication, and results.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as a key member of the Hach Senior Leadership (L1) team that sets the company’s strategic direction and demonstrates enterprise-wide, global leadership.
  • Lead the Hach annual strategic planning processes and specific strategy initiatives across the company. Define, manage, and track key company-wide strategic performance.
  • Identify, define, and articulate emerging trends in the industry and market for the company through maintaining market and competitor intelligence.
  • Work closely with the regional VP & GMs and global functional leaders to develop a roadmap for achieving higher organic growth that leverages all aspects of the growth engine.
  • Partner with regional marketing teams to identify opportunities for growth and define vertical market strategy and strategic commercial initiatives.
  • Develop thought leadership on strategic pricing and strategic segmentation, providing oversight for all aspects of global pricing strategy development and execution.
  • Collaborate with the Innovation & Technology team and the Commercial teams to architect a global product strategy and product roadmap that will support the brand position and ensure that the company is well positioned in a dynamic competitive landscape
  • Empower the Application Development Managers within the team to play a leading role in the industry to enhance Hach's position as a global thought leader in water analytics.
  • Evaluate white space opportunities for possible expansion through new business ventures, outside innovation collaborations, as well as technology acquisitions.
  • Partner closely with Danaher Corporate Development and key stakeholders on Merger & Acquisition deal flow, analyzing the opportunities and risks and own the Hach inorganic funnel.
  • Drive the continuous improvement mindset through the Strategy team in further developing growth processes utilizing the the Danaher Business System.
  • Develop succession capability and build talent funnels to ensure Hach’s sustainable future growth.
  • Hire, train, develop, and coach team members to create an environment of high engagement and performance.

Education, Background and Skill Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, MBA or Master’s degree preferred.
  • Minimum of ten years of relevant top-tier strategy consulting experience and experience leading strategy or business development within a corporation
  • Understanding of the commercial and financial implications of strategy development process
  • Must have a high level of strategic agility, excellent decision making and problem-solving skills, and a demonstrated ability to drive innovation.
  • Significant experience with financial modeling and business case development, as well as Key Performance Indicator (KPI) measurement and analytics.
  • Demonstrable learning agile and the ability to quickly grasp an understanding and command of the global water market: products, players, technologies, and contacts.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop partnership strategies that support organizational goals.
  • Understanding of the complexity of business needs and decision drivers within an organization. Must be able to consider available facts, constraints, competitive circumstances, and probable consequences.
  • Proven capability to deliver results and drive strategic leadership within large scale organizations.
  • Demonstrated leadership and managerial skills with the ability to attract top talent, develop high performers, and hold people accountable for their performance.
  • A high level of cultural sensitivity and awareness with the ability to create a diverse organization. Able to engage effectively across an experienced global peer group like the Hach L1 team.
  • Demonstrated success in both direct line leadership and highly matrixed environments.
  • Must have an entrepreneurial spirit and a mindset of continuous improvement.
  • Superior interpersonal and communication skills.

The salary range for this role is $245,000-$300,000. This is the range that we in good faith believe is the range of possible compensation for this role at the time of this posting. We may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range and this range is only applicable for jobs to be performed in Colorado. This range may be modified in the future.

This job is also eligible for bonus pay.
