SUMMARY OF POSITION:

This position is responsible for the execution of Intren West Operations including scope, schedules, and execution. This will include the planning, performance, direction, and coordination, directly and through subordinates, to accomplish Company objectives. It will have direct P&L responsibility overseeing the day-to-day interface with clients and customers. Accountable for use of effective production methods and techniques, and public relations with customers. This position is located in California, preferably commutable to the Brentwood or the Pomona office

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Corporate Leadership:

Actively participates in strategic leadership across the organization, promoting continuous improvements while supporting all organizational objectives and priorities. Supports the organization’s vision and provides leadership to carry out its mission.

  • Actively leads and supports a positive, proactive, results-oriented work culture.

Financial Performance:

  • Ensures that the key financial performance indicators are in place to achieve Intren West's financial performance aligned with the strategic plan.
  • Part of the strategic team that supports the finance team in developing and monitoring the annual budget in alignment with the strategic plan; also establishing financial policies and guidelines.
  • Works with the leadership team and finance team to understand key performance indicators for each division as well as their collective impact on the company.

Marketing and Business Development:

  • Works with Marketing and Business Development to ensure the firm’s marketing plan is consistently executed.
  • Responsible for the operational level of the customer while supporting the development and execution of customer support at the executive level.
  • Supports the development and execution of the “strategic accounts” planning process.
  • Provides visible corporate leadership support to potential and existing customers.
  • Actively participates in strategic development and pursuit of clients and projects.
  • Maintains working dialog with key customers at the operational level.

Operational Leadership:

Plans, organizes, directs, and controls the activities within Operations including these essential leadership functions:

  • Coaches and develops individual leadership team members within his staff.
  • Develops a leadership and management succession plan.
  • Leads the execution and results of the strategic plan that ensures growth targets are met.

Operations:

  • Leads the Operations to achieve the targeted key performance indicators (KPI).
  • Responsible to establish and maintain the “operating results” dashboard/processes and work with the Operations team to make adjustments to meet targets.
  • Develops and monitors the overall organizational structure of the Operations group.
  • Establishes policies and guidelines for operational excellence.
  • Oversees the process for ensuring the proper work plans are in place, scheduling work, staffing and compliance in the execution of projects including resolution between departments.
  • Ensures quality processes are in place for all operational divisions specific to their project requirements.
  • Works with the VP of Human Resources regarding policies, salary administration, and total rewards including performance appraisal process to align with the Intren West Operation’s employee value proposition.
  • Ensures there is a development and training strategy for all personnel within Operations.
  • Ensures there is a collaborative work environment within and between Intren West offices that is inclusive of all stakeholders (internal and external to the firm).
  • Develops and maintains collective bargaining relationships.
  • Other duties as assigned

Potential KPIs:

VP will be evaluated annually by the SVP based on the personal development plan. That will include: Leadership in support of a strategic plan that meets or exceeds goals/metrics as a national practice in these specific areas:

  • Companywide Leadership – Leadership team effectiveness.
  • Marketing & Business Development – Net service revenue.
  • Operations – Overhead target.
  • Financial Performance – Profit target.
  • Strategic Business Objectives

DESIRED MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Management, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of ten (10) years of progressive experience in large project management or direct supervisory role.
  • Five (5) years of progressive senior leadership experience or demonstrated proficiency and experience managing large complex projects using project management techniques including:
    • Planning and control
      • Product/work breakdown structures
      • Critical path analysis
    • Issue and risk management
      • Identification, assessment, and management of project risks including contingency plans
    • PM tools
      • Methods and techniques for planning, scheduling, resource balancing, monitoring cost
    • Business case development
      • Cost/benefit evaluations
    • Progress Reporting
      • Cost/schedule curves
      • Project status reports
      • Earned value analysis
  • Prefer advanced degree or Project Management Certificate (PMP), PE
  • Proven leadership ability in a high-performance culture.
  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus, communicate effectively, engage others in the required processes and hold people accountable.
