The Animal Hospital of Dauphin County has been caring for pets in the greater Harrisburg and Hershey communities since 1962. We started out in a small, three-bedroom house (now home to our business offices). After several expansions, we now work in a 6,000 square-foot, fully equipped animal hospital. We focus on prevention and early detection of diseases, which allows for more effective treatment and a longer life for the pets that we care for. We update our testing methods and treatments through continuing education and by consulting with specialists in many disciplines.

Experienced Veterinary Technician opening at the Animal Hospital of Dauphin County located near Harrisburg and Hershey, PA. We are a progressive full spectrum small animal practice seeking a motivated, dedicated, hard-working, experienced technician to join our team. We are growing our Doctor team and we are looking for Experienced Technicians to grow with us! ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

Performs all duties in accordance with government regulations and hospital policies and procedures.

In-Hospital Patient Care

• Performs emergency procedures as directed by the veterinarian.
• Administers SQ, IM and IV injections.
• Perform radiographs and ECGs.
• IV catheter placement
• Drug Calculations
• In-house diagnostics including microscopy

Surgery/Anesthesia monitoring

• Prep and Recover Surgical/Dental patients
• Intubation
• IVC placement, induction
• Monitor anesthesia including ECG, Capnograph, BP, Temp, etc.
• Perform digital dental radiographs, scaling and polishing
• Discharge patients

Prepare and maintain exam rooms.

• Perform full TPR on all patients
• Understands usage and dosage for commonly used prescription drugs including heartworm preventative and prescription flea control products
• Educate clients on diet, dental care, yearly preventative bloodwork, heartworm disease, tick borne diseases, etc.
• Phlebotomy
• Restraint
• Perform Radiographs

**The majority of shifts would be In-Patient care with 1-2 days of Surgery.**

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous experience in a Veterinary Hospital as Technician
• Ability to be a team player in a fast-paced setting
• Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong attention to detail
• Strong organizational skills
• Skill to collect blood from multiple different species preferred
• Experience with Idexx and Abaxis machines preferred
• Evenings and Saturdays required

Schedule is 2-3 shifts until 7 or 9pm and 2 shifts until 3 or 5 depending on individual. 1 Weekend/Month required.

EDUCATION

Candidate will preferably be certified as a Veterinary Technician. However, candidates with prior experience in this role will be considered.
