Job Summary:
The OPEx Training Manager is responsible for implementing, delivering, and tracking Trident Seafoods training programs for AK shore plants and vessels. As part of the operating committee, this position will drive and communicate best practices/operational excellence initiatives.


The likely candidate will have the ability to communicate information clearly and facilitate learning to diverse audiences using approved company training programs and methods, such as 5-down and TWOW, Daily Management System (DMS).


Essential Functions:

  • Teaches training methods and skills to instructors and supervisors as directed.
  • Partners with subject matter experts on regulatory trainings like Safety, Wastewater, Air Pollution, or Food Safety. Uses principles of coaching to provide feedback and skill development opportunities to employees delivering training.
  • Teaches and supports: Data Collection, Loss analysis, process flow and process mapping activities.
  • Creates annual training schedules and supports compliance efforts. Tracks and communicates compliance, following up when gaps in training occur.
  • Coordinates efforts across the different functional support departments, including engineering, maintenance, safety and quality, as well as the production team, to drive the processes and activities.
  • Researches and analyzes processes to explore potential continuous improvement projects and assesses potential impact.
  • Provides data and reporting as requested including ROI and cost projections for review by exec team.
  • Acts as project manager or subject matter expert for CI projects of varying size and complexity.
  • Continually conducts validation tests and analysis of project results and impact.
  • Assists with maintenance of training records in Learning Management System.
  • Provides direct supervision of employees in the production areas as needed, ensuring company policies and procedures are followed; escalate performance issues as needed.
  • Hands-on production: Floor implementation support of Mini Business Unit Activities and Kaizen events.
  • Develops/tracks training and leads implementation and/or delivery of other training programs as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions
  • Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings

Minimum Requirements


Experience:
  • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience in training and development or teaching.
  • Experience in production or manufacturing required, experience in AK seafood processing industry preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma experience preferred, Green Belt or higher desirable.


Education:

High School Diploma or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred.


Special Training/Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret basic documents. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to communicate with employees with diverse backgrounds in person, and/or through correspondence. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the public. The employee should be adept at E-mail and Internet software, word processing software, spreadsheet software, and presentation software. Ability to set up audiovisual equipment for presentations is required. Multiple language skills highly desired.

Work Environment:

Remote Site Operations: This job takes place in a typical office environment and subject to moderate noise and requires hands-on plant floor/site implementation.


Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must lift and/or move up to 25 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally.


Mental Activities:

To perform the functions of the job, the employee must frequently use critical thinking skills, decision making skills, and interpersonal skills, which includes management, supervision, training, and teambuilding. They should be able to speak, read, write, and understand English; be adept at giving presentations. The successful employee will use creativity and customer service skills frequently.
