Suburban Enterprises is currently seeking an energetic Tools Specialist to join our team. This position will provide tool and equipment support to all team members. This position is also responsible for purchasing, sustaining, and repairing all company tools under the direction of the Purchasing Manager. They will also be responsible for our fleet vehicle maintenance program which keeps Suburban vehicles and team members safe and insures a professional appearance.

The Tools Specialist would have strong detail skills as well as solid time management abilities that allow them to effectively prioritize and complete multiple tasks throughout the day.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Responsible for the check-in/out process for all company tools and equipment
  • Responsible for repairs and maintenance of all company tools and equipment
  • Responsible for applying identification on new tools and logging said tools
  • Maintain data database of all tools and equipment
  • Responsible for keeping the tool shed clean and organized
  • Assist in ensuring the appearance of all vehicles is clean and professional
  • Backup and assist tool and equipment manager
  • Backup Field Services Dept. when needed (Purchasing, Shipping / Receiving & Deliveries)
  • Normal hours are 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM

PROFIT/LOSS

  • Assist in the purchasing of tools and equipment
  • Assist with negotiating agreements with vendors for new purchases, repairs, and rental of tools and equipment
  • Assist in maintaining the database of all tools and equipment including all details and warranty information
  • Assist in Managing the physical inventory process and reconciling to records

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of markets and vendors used for purchases
  • Ability to assess workplace surroundings and take corrective action
  • Construction industry knowledge
  • Knowledge of industry markets and vendors
  • Must be highly organized and detailed oriented
  • Good interpersonal skills and effective oral and written communication skills are required
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and confidentiality
  • Knowledge of costs associated with actions performed within the position
  • Must have experience in the use of a PC and Microsoft Word and Excel software, as well as the Internet.
  • Must have accurate data entry skills
  • Must possess the ability to multi-task and work within scheduled deadlines
  • Tactful in their dealings with people using good customer service and interpersonal skills, communicating effectively with co-workers and managers
  • Ability to establish and maintain professional working relationships
  • Willing to explain, guide and train as opportunities arise

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma along with a mechanical background
  • Extensive knowledge of electrical tools and equipment
