Nexus-Onarga Family Healing is located approximately 90 miles south of Chicago, only a few miles from I-57 on a historic site in Onarga, IL. Nexus-Onarga provides boys, ages 10 to 20, a structured, homelike environment where they can safely address their problematic sexual behaviors and their emotional and behavioral issues. Nexus-Onarga is part of Nexus Family Healing, a national nonprofit network of mental health agencies providing innovative, customized help for children and families struggling with emotional, behavioral, and mental health issues.

Education, Credentials and Experience

• Minimum 21 years of age.
• Valid driver’s license and driving record that satisfies state regulating agency driving requirements as well as Nexus corporate policy parameters and insurance eligibility standards.
• 2 years of adolescent counseling and/or residential experience preferred.
• Previous experience with trauma treatment and experience serving a culturally diverse population, preferred.

Therapist* position:*

• Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or clinically-related field required.
• Meets Medicaid requirements for a QMHP.
• LPC, LMFT, LCSW, LCPC or equivalent professional licensure for a masters’ level clinically related field strongly preferred.
• May require employees to have/attain State of Illinois licensure as a Sex Offender Treatment Provider based on program

For Acting Therapist* position:*

• Currently enrolled and within one year of graduation from a program which will result in a Master’s Degree in Counseling, Social Work, or clinically-related field required.
• Meets Medicaid requirements for an MHP.

Responsibilities

• Provide assessments, treatment planning, intervention strategies and evaluation of client progress for clients.
• Communicate with legal systems, schools, medical services providers, social service agencies and the client’s family as needed and provide additional support services where needed.
• Participate, as a member of the interdisciplinary team, to implement treatment plans and therapeutic services.
• Collaborate with coworkers to ensure an emotionally and physically safe environment for clients that is positive, respectful, clean and therapeutic.
• Participate in the client’s discharge process.
• Ensure compliance with governing agency and Nexus reporting requirements.
• Participate in staff meetings, program clinical team meetings, therapy clinical supervision sessions and training, as required, to increase knowledge and skills of currently established standards of practice.
• Perform other responsibilities, tasks and projects as needed.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to assist staff in proper physical interventions and restraining of residents.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted and up to 100 pounds with assistance
• Must be able to twist, bend, stretch and move with adequate mobility to execute the daily activities within a residential treatment program.
