POSITION:


1.0 FTE ELEMENTARY TEACHER


ASSIGNMENT:


2nd Grade


SCHEDULE:


7 hours/day; 8:20 a.m.-3:50 p.m.; Monday-Friday; 185 Days

  • The district reserves the option to return to this pool for non-continuing, leave replacement positions. Candidates will be notified if they are being contacted regarding a non-continuing position

COMPENSATION:


$50,097-$97,837/year depending on prior experience; Pay is annualized over 12 months (if hired after start of school year, spread over remaining months of fiscal year (Sept-Aug))

  • Professional Development and Supply Allocation Funds:

The District will provide annually $700 per FTE employee for reimbursement of 1) Classes, conferences and/or workshops; 2) Purchase of work related materials (no gift cards may be purchased with these funds for any reason); 3) Certification Support

  • New Certified Staff Funds:

The District will provide a one-time $400 per FTE reimbursement to new employees with one year or less previous teaching experience (includes substitute time) to support initial classroom setup and supply needs. Does not apply to partial year leave replacement contracts.


BENEFITS:


Paid leave; If utilizing flexible hours/schedule, position hours must generate at least 630 work hours in the current school year for the following to apply: Medical, dental, vision, and basic life and AD&D insurance; retirement plan; deferred compensation (DRS and TSA)


QUALIFICATIONS:


Valid Washington State Teaching Certificate with elementary education endorsement; WSP/FBI criminal history background clearance


PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Demonstrated current knowledge of elementary school curriculum, Washington State Standards and Common Core Standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to develop appropriate learning objectives and learning targets.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of performance assessment and experience in administering normed, standards-based testing and inventories as required by the school district and/or Washington state assessments.
  • Demonstrated commitment and interest in contributing to the ongoing committees and activities of the district, including school, community and regional endeavors.
  • Demonstrated ability to implement instructional techniques, including, but not limited to: individualization, differentiation, peer tutoring,
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with students with special needs.
  • Demonstrated understanding of working with ELL students.
  • Demonstrated ability to share in the sponsorship of student-parent activities.
  • Actively participate in district and building Professional Learning Communities (PLCs).
  • Knowledge and experience with formal and informal assessment procedures, including DRA, portfolios, checklists, anecdotal records, standardized testing, and MAP (Measures of Academic Progress), classroom-based assessments, and district assessment.
  • Experience in writing individual student learning plans, tracking student progress, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Demonstrated experience using a Standards Based Report Card.
  • Demonstrated successful experience working with elementary children.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and use of comprehension reading strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to use and teach communication and problem solving skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage the learning environment in an elementary classroom.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience with primary curriculum including an integrated approach, various teaching strategies, and graphic organizers.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain a positive classroom environment through the use of appropriate discipline and classroom management techniques, with clear systems and structures implemented consistent with Cheney School District policies, procedures and practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge and application of current technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and establish rapport with children, parents, staff, community and administrative personnel.
  • Other assignments as required.
