Assists the Motor Vehicle Department in the Tax Office in providing customer assistance in processing vehicle registration and title transfers by performing the following duties.

Essential duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to, the following:


  • Provides remarkable customer service while processing titles of motor vehicles and trailers as well as registration of motor vehicles and trailers.
  • Informs and guides customers consistently and accurately on required documentation for transactions.
  • Prepares and processes vehicle titles for dealers.
  • Remains current on all applicable laws, procedures and requirements from the Department of Motor Vehicle, Texas Parks and Wildlife and Texas Tax Code.
  • Assists the Property Tax Collections Department in the Tax Office collecting tax payments as needed.
  • Attends and participates in meetings and conferences as required.
  • Regular attendance is required.

Qualifications

Education, Experience and Training Guidelines:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge of:


  • County government operations;
  • County fiscal and budgeting policies and procedures, as well as Federal, state and local laws, rules and regulations governing area of assignment;
  • Office procedures and systems;
  • Office equipment;
  • Basic bookkeeping practices and methods;
  • Department policies, procedures and regulations covering specific areas of assignment.
Skill in:
  • Communicating effectively, both orally and in writing, including skill in interpreting complex information and in conveying it to other in an accurate, complete, and understandable manner;
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with managers, supervisors, employees, external public agencies and organizations, vendors, suppliers and the general public.
  • Using initiative, discretion and decision making within established procedures, guidelines and rules;
  • Performing basic mathematical calculations;
  • Providing remarkable customer service;
  • Multi-tasking;
  • Operating a personal computer and various software applications.

LICENSE & CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
Valid Texas Driver’s License;
Attained Professional Designation Certification from the Tax Assessor-Collectors Association of Texas including:
County Tax Office Professional (CTOP) within 3 years

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
Work is performed in a traditional office work environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate in the office setting. May be required to lift and carry items weighing up to 25 pounds. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust to focus.
