POSITION SUMMARY

To support elementary students develop skills in the areas of personal/social growth, educational planning, and career and
vocational development
? Staff Training Dates for Summer - June 7 and June 8, mandatory
? Candidate will serve students at all elementary summer sites, based on need (Sheffield, BHES, RSP, PES).
? Other duties as assigned by administrator/supervisor

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

? Strong communication and interpersonal skills with various stakeholders, including students, families, staff, and
division colleagues.
? Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, and adjust and adapt instructional strategies swiftly given the short
duration of summer programs.
? Provides an opportunity for elementary students to explore interests and career goals for enrichment.
? Provides group guidance activities in order to provide information, skill building, opportunities for personal growth and
development, orientation, and assistance in decision-making for enrichment.
? Provides an opportunity for individual counseling (one-on-one) and group counseling (growth engendering or
remedial).
? Works in cooperation with other school personnel in identifying students with special needs.
? Performs other duties as assigned by the principal and guidance director.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

? Master's degree in Counseling, required.
? Candidate must possess or be eligible for a Virginia Teacher's license in School Counseling PK-12.
? Experience working in an elementary school environment.

• Evidence of efficacy and willingness to be a team player.
