Position Summary
The Staff Accountant will prepare financial reports to track the organization s assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, and other related financial activities. This position will report to and work closely with the Assistant Controller to support the overall financial reporting for the Company.

Salary Range: $26-$32 per hour + Bonus & Profit Sharing - position is FSLA non-exempt

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs journal entries, job cost adjustments, general accounting, and other related duties in the accounting department
  • Maintains the general ledger reconciliations for designated accounts
  • Reconciles bank accounts daily, verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks
  • Manages fixed asset ledgers, works with department managers to track additions, disposals, and transfers
  • Prepares periodic (monthly) financial reports, as well as ad hoc reports
  • Works closely with others within the organization, both within the department and outside the department
  • Provides outside auditors with assistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit
  • Files required tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies
  • Performs other related duties as assigned

Education/Experience

  • Bachelor s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related discipline preferred
  • Three years of accounting experience preferred
  • Experience with Viewpoint Vista software a plus

Required Skills:

  • Understanding of and ability to adhere to generally accepted accounting principles. Construction accounting knowledge a plus
  • Proficient with accounting software, ability to learn new systems.
  • Ability to recognize priorities and organize workload accordingly
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Team approach to work environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including ability to interact effectively with all levels throughout Company as well as vendors
  • Ability to demonstrate considerable tact and diplomacy in dealing with others
  • Above average skills using Microsoft Office Suite - Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and accuracy
  • Problem identification and resolution skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality with sensitive information
  • Strong work ethic, self-starter, and meets deadlines
  • Ability to work overtime, as needed
