The Headlines :
In the role of Sr. Supply Manager- Packaging Optimation working in Milwaukee, WI, you will be part of the Packaging Procurement team. The Sr. Supply Manager will be responsible for optimizing the packaging categories and processes across quality, cost, service, innovation and SRM. You will play a key role within NA Packaging Leadership Team and combine efforts with cross-functional team members from packaging development, quality and packaging innovation to lead the packaging value optimization projects, packaging qualification and packaging sustainability goals. You will use strategic sourcing methodologies such as spend analysis, end-to-end supply chain reviews, industry specifications and SRM principles to better understand where the packaging optimization opportunities are available to the organization.

This position reports to the Director of Procurement Packaging and works closely with cross-functional teams.

The Responsibilities :
  • Lead Internal & Supplier Cost Saving/Process improvement workshops, and
  • Owns global packaging benchmark database to maintain and identify Value Optimization Project (VOP) pipeline on an ongoing basis, which feeds Packaging Procurement's Long-Range Plan (LRP) and the Annual Operating Plan (AOP). Also drives the prioritization and delivery of these projects with support from the US PLT, other category managers and stakeholders (typical annual target of $20M+)
  • Responsible for optimizing the Supplier Relationship Management (SRM) process for the strategic global packaging suppliers, which includes segmenting suppliers, mapping stakeholders and leaders to suppliers, developing and managing a meeting structure and cadence and ensuring relevant content is created and communicated.
  • Lead LRP Packaging Procurement projects from Ideation to Concept and obtain alignment approval with key stakeholders.
  • Responsible for managing stakeholder relationships with the NA leads for quality, packaging development, engineering, supply planning, project management, finance, etc.
  • Reviewing 3-5 NA packaging categories of intermediate to high complexity on a sustainable basis using strategic levers to unlock VOP opportunities.
  • Lead negotiations and implementation activities and manage suppliers to enable end-to-end reviews to improve overall landed costs that contribute to sustaining annual savings.
  • Create and maintain value stream opportunities, including process improvements to packaging best practices while working with Manufacturing sites to implement new processes.
  • Responsible for delivering packaging category results in objectives on a North American level.
  • Manage many complex supplier relationships (10-25)
  • Manage stakeholders and be able to partner with internal stakeholders to align on company priorities.
  • Maintain a cost savings target of $20M+ per year.
  • Responsible for assessing and managing category risks and opportunities.
  • Responsible for managing category annual operating plan cycle and supporting budget processes.

The Other Qualifications:
  • 4 or more years of relevant experience. Expert category strategy, strategic sourcing, supplier management, spend analysis, and contract negotiation skills.
  • Broad-based experience in multinational category management. Strong project management skills. Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • SAP experience and Industry certification (ISM, CIPS) are preferred. Contract management, spend analysis, and e-sourcing tools experience.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field, but a master’s would be preferred
  • Black Belt Certification would be preferred.
  • Experience in packaging optimization and cost savings strategy implementation
