The liaison handles duties and exercises responsibility for identifying and relating specific problems experienced by a particular community group(s). The liaison provides insight which could enhance and increase awareness, experience, knowledge and sensitivity when needed to operate and evaluate the delivery of services to the specialty court population.

The required works hours are 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM Monday-Friday, with alternating late day of 10:00 AM -7:00 PM as scheduled, or at Supervisor’s discretion. The beginning salary is negotiable based on experience and qualifications.

Example of Duties

The work is performed under the general supervision of the Specialty Court Program Supervisor. The liaison will perform all related duties as required, including but not limited to, the following:


  • Acts as a liaison between specialty court clients and criminal courts
  • Attends court sessions and other legal proceedings as necessary
  • Coordinates meetings and activities among specialty court individuals and agencies
  • Conducts group and individual sessions when needed
  • Keeps statistics on the individuals they serve and services provided
  • Reviews local CSCD programs, resources available in the community, literature, forms instructions, etc. for accessibility
  • Identifies programs, policies and practices which may impede effective service delivery
  • Establishes and maintains relationships with organizations regarding specialty court services and community-based programs
  • Conducts special outreach and recruitment activities to those in need; serves as department resource concerning ongoing needs
  • Conducts necessary screenings for the identification of needed services
  • Any other duties assigned

Qualifications

This individual must have a minimum of three (3) years of experience in the substance use field and case management. This individual must be able to communicate effectively with departmental, court-related personnel and local/state resource agencies and must function as a team player. A documented history of substance use training and/or the willingness to obtain the necessary substance use training is recommended. This individual must be knowledgeable about community resources and their referral processes. Experience in managing high risk/high need cases is desirable, along with the willingness to obtain the necessary training in order to provide supportive services. A minimum of a LCDC-I licensure is preferred and/or the willingness to obtain it.
