Job Description

Under the direction of the Finance Manager, helps oversee the financial and budgetary functions of the City. Must be a motivated and driven individual with a desire for career growth and to face new challenges.

Responsibilities:

• Critical role in the creation, analysis, and maintenance of annual operating and project budgets
• Critical role in the development and management of the Citywide Capital Improvement Plan and Financial Forecast
• Regularly performs financial forecasts and provides updates to management
• Analyzes large sets of data in order to provide ad-hoc reports as required
• Projects revenue sources and helps set Water, Sewer, and Stormwater rates
• Compile and analyze financial reports and find discrepancies that require senior management’s attention
• Act as project manager for relevant projects as directed by management
• Provide creative alternatives and recommendations to reduce costs and improve financial performance
• Develop financial models, conduct benchmarking and performance analysis
• Prepare documentation and presentations for management, the Mayor, and City Council
• Reconcile transactions by comparing and correcting data
• Consult with management to guide and influence long term and strategic decision making
• Occasionally may be required to attend night meetings as required by management

Required Qualifications:

• 3-5 years of experience in Finance, Accounting, or related field with experience in planning, forecasting and financial analysis.
• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field. Work towards a Master’s degree is a plus.
• A strong desire to learn new skills, face new challenges, and develop professionally
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel is required. A skills test may be administered during interview process. Experience with Munis, SQL, or Tableau a plus.
• Strong presentation and communication skills
• Ability to work independently and as a member of a team; ability to share information with others and help build a team atmosphere
