TITLE: Senior Buyer

DUTIES: Meritor Heavy Vehicle Systems, LLC seeks a Senior Buyer based out of our office at 2135 W. Maple Road Troy, MI. Note, this is a hybrid position whereby the employee will work both from home and from the aforementioned office address. Hence, the employee must live within a reasonable commuting distance of the aforementioned office address. Note, this position does not require travel.

Responsible for assisting in the development and executing implementation of commodity strategies in collaboration with supply chain, sales, and manufacturing team members; conducting and coordinating pricing and contract negotiations; identifying opportunities to leverage the company's volume into advantageous supply agreements; identifying and executing savings opportunities, implementing sourcing strategies, and quickly executing tasks to realize benefits; driving cost reduction efforts and ideas through implementation to meet annual targets; supporting manufacturing plants with major supply issues within the commodity; issuing and maintaining purchase orders to suppliers; performing system maintenance tasks to support engineering changes; performing tasks related to debit memos, receipt reconciliation, material rejection reports, payables; ensuring all active purchase items have an approved source; identifying, managing and implementing re-sourcing activities (from negotiations to product approval to purchase orders); ensuring system accuracy to enable proper material planning; monitoring supplier performance to key metrics and liaison the company's manufacturing plants and suppliers to support continuous improvement related to quality, cost, delivery, and service; and interpreting and communicating engineering drawings and specifications.
