Scranton Manufacturing Company, Inc. Sales Engineer JOB DESCRIPTIONThe Sales Engineer will support the sales team by focusing on end user functionality and technical details of products to streamline the sales cycle. The position will serve as a liaison between the Sales, Engineering, and Production departments to efficiently manage the sales cycle from quote to product delivery. This position provides technical assistance to Regional Sales Managers and sales distributor network. The position will report to the Sales Operations Manager. ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
  • Work with product and sales teams to interpret customer requirements and deliver solutions with the end-goal of customer satisfaction in mind.
  • Provide answers to customer questions about technical aspects of the product.
  • Assist field sales team by gathering and analyzing data and providing support with demonstrations for customers, trade shows, special events, and sales presentations.
  • Periodically conduct final quality inspection and systems check of completed units on behalf of sales team prior to shipment to ensure customer expectations are met.
  • Provide feedback to various teams for process or product improvements identified through the sales process as required.
  • Provide clear and accurate responses for RFPs and bids, sales quotes, and/or contribute technical solutions directly to proposals, presentations, etc.
  • Maintain and prepare technical documents used to support sales function to include: bid specifications, literature, weight distributions, and custom and standard pricing.
  • Field inbound sales inquiries related to product information, pricing, and technical requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (or similar technical discipline) and at least 2 years of manufacturing work experience required; OR an equivalent combination of education and work experience required.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to collaborate with customers and other departments.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Possess working experience with Solid Works 3D CAD design software or similar.
  • Good planning and organization/work management skills and highly detail oriented.
  • Results oriented/initiative-taker with desire to learn and teach.
  • Experience with general office software including Microsoft Office. Microsoft Excel experience required.
  • Possess problem assessment and critical thinking skills.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing continuous improvement processes and/or other statistical and analytical tools and procedures.
  • Strong mechanical knowledge, critical thinking, and analytical skills required.
