The role you’ll contribute:

The Radiation Therapist administers targeted doses of radiation as prescribed by a radiation oncologist. Assists in preparing sealed radioactive materials, calculates actual treatment dosages, and prepares equipment such as immobilization, treatment and protection. Specific duties include: checking patient information; preparing room and equipment; patient and family communication; patient transport and transfer; performing radiation treatments; coordinating treatment and surgery schedules; monitoring patient vitals, maintaining department supplies; keeping records; and assisting with teaching.

  • Reviews and implements plan of care according to physician orders and prescriptions
  • Checks patient information and prepares treatment room and equipment according to radiation treatment plan.
  • Educates and responds to patient requests with an explanation of intended action and follow through.
  • Provides and seeks information from health care team members regarding patient care.
  • Participates in quality assurance (QA) processes including daily QA procedures and energy outputs.
Qualifications


The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:


  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Up to 1 Year of Clinical Experience
  • Kansas LRT State License
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT)
  • Basic Life Support through the American Heart Association
