PSYCHIATRIC MEDICAL DIRECTOR

SUMMARY OF POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director, the Psychiatric Medical Director is responsible for advising the Executive Director, Director of Nursing and the program Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts on the overall psychiatric management of the residents.

- The psychiatric medical director shall be the medical director of the facility. For all non-mental illness-related medical issues, the medical director shall comply with Section 380.600(b)(3).
- Approve, in writing, the facility's written policies and procedures applicable to the psychiatric programming.
- Be present at the facility for at least one hour every week to meet with and observe residents and staff and their interactions.
- Make suggestions for changes in staff behavior and training, including changes in the facility policies and procedures.
- Ensure the facility keeps records demonstrating that the Psychiatric Medical Director is present at the facility for at least one hour every week to meet with and observe residents and staff and their interactions.
- Ensure the facility keeps records demonstrating that the Psychiatric Medical Director provides suggestions for changes in staff behavior and training, including changes in the facility policies and procedures.
SECONDARY DUTIES:
- Perform other duties as assigned.
LEVEL OF EDUCATION/TRAINING/QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIRED CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:
- Licensed under the Medical Practice Act of 1987, board eligible or board certified in psychiatry from the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.
TRAINING:
- Complete annual DHS-DMH training on the specific topics and training hours prescribed in Section 380.130.
POSITIONS ADVISED:
- Responsible for advising the Executive Director, Director of Nursing, and the program Licensed Practitioner of the Healing Arts on the overall psychiatric management of the residents.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS/WORKING CONDITIONS:
- Regularly walk, stand or stoop; occasionally lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects or people at a minimum of 25 pounds.
- Work is performed in an office, nursing station, utility room, and throughout the facility; Work exposes employees to contagious or infectious diseases.
- Work may expose employees to dangerous and volatile situations, which could result in bodily injury.
Job Type: Contract
Pay: $15.00 - $100,000.00 per year
