Duties

Major duties include but are not limited to the following:

  • Provides general clerical as well as technical assistance to the My HealtheVet Coordinator by maintaining MHV Systems, Secure Messaging Program, and electronic and/or virtual assistive equipment.
  • Establishes, develops, and implements, at the request or in conjunction with the My HealtheVet Coordinator, local My HealtheVet-related goals, strategies to meet goals, identifies responsible parties, tracks progress, including monitoring goals/activity status, and assists in the development of reports status/progress to medical center management.
  • Assists in establishing and managing communications plans that identify target audiences, appropriate messages, activities, and resources needed for effective communication, and effective communications plan for change management, incorporate multiple channels to manage expectations and disseminate project progress.
  • Provides oversight for a variety of software programs integral to the overall administration and operations of the Connected Care Service.
  • Assists with the preparation and implementation of business contingency plans for MyHealtheVet system failures specifically addressing manual system backup plans and how day to day business will be conducted.
  • Provides IT user support through training and troubleshooting problems; equipment support including maintaining the inventory, requesting repair and maintenance, and requesting new equipment.
  • Provides training support which includes developing and monitoring the Service's training plan; tracking employee training; participating in the development and delivery of in-service training; and performs office support duties which includes preparing reports; preparinggraphics for presentations and ensuring that labor and equipment costs are properly assigned.
  • Assists in the development, implementation, maintenance, and documentation of MHV internal and control policies and procedures.
  • Serves, in the absence of the My HealtheVet Coordinator, as Secure Message liaison and administrator to VISN and National MHV teams. Applies the training plans and design and perform needs assessments within the project relative to functional and training needs and project effectiveness.
  • Proposes, develops, and implements strategic plans and objectives for the enhancement, maintenance, and future advancement of operations for the My HealtheVet and VA mobile apps program.
  • Assists in the management of multi-disciplinary teams comprised of professional, technical and support personnel to coordinate clinical and business functions for the My HealtheVet and VA mobile apps program.
  • Provides general clerical services as well as being well versed with the MHV administrative portal and the MHV website in effort to aid Veterans, caregivers, and families with MHV registration and authentication, educate Veteran on how to utilize the MHV and navigate the MHV website while accurately conducting consults management.
  • Assists the My HealtheVet Coordinator in developing presentations to all levels of the VAMC/HCS, service organizations, and veterans, family members and caregivers.
  • Utilizes interpersonal communication skills to deal with Veterans who are difficult, hostile, or distressed, working with co-workers, supervisors, and high-level management, and negotiating.
  • Assists in the development of multimedia campaign materials (e.g., printed articles, brochures, videos) to enlighten target population. Assists in researching and writing articles, news releases and briefs for inclusion in publications and for release to other media.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 03/31/2023.

GS-07 grade level: One year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-06 grade level in the federal service); experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSA's) and other characteristics to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled, in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Specialized experience includes but are not limited to: Performing advanced administrator duties which includes basic knowledge of iOS, Android, and web browser operations with other Connected Care programs; Skill in organizing and communicating ideas and thoughts effectively through written correspondence and oral presentation; Skill in automated data processing applications, e.g., desktop publishing, graphics, etc. to be able to design, establish, and operate in the operation of personal computer (PC) equipment; Skill in audio-visual techniques to assist in preparation of radio, television, slide show, speech materials, or other methods of communication; Knowledge of basic process of administration, the principles and standards of management and the techniques of organization, direction, coordination, and control; Analyze a variety of research reports, studies, fact sheets, and other documents; Skill to use Excel, Word, and PowerPoint programs; collecting, analyzing, assembling, preparing, and disseminating information: Possesses excellent customer service by providing consistent information according to established policies and procedures.


There is no educational substitution for the GS-07 level.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
