Job Posting: Program Coordinator-Part Time

The Glow Cultural Center (GCC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit community-based organization located in Flushing, NY. Our mission is to enrich community life through educational, cultural, and social programs. We provide a vibrant gathering and events center in the heart of Flushing and offer programs that are inclusive and affordable.

We are looking for a Program Coordinator who will expand the program capabilities of the Glow Cultural Center. This part time position will report directly to the Director of Programs and will also work closely with all GCC team members, volunteers, and stakeholders. Depending on experience, candidate will work 15-25 hrs. per week, which would include weekends.

The successful candidate must have a demonstrated ability and passion for planning and managing events.

Responsibilities:

· Being an enthusiastic, highly motivated self-starter with a strong work ethic, acting in the best interest of the Glow Cultural Center and its community. The candidate should have the flexibility to work evenings and weekends as needed.

· Communicating effectively and confidently and being comfortable in engaging stakeholders in written and spoken English and Chinese Mandarin, reflecting our target populations.

· Assist in program plans and requirements to ensure that they are effectively administered, and adequately funded. Prior experience in arts and culture, and youth leadership/development programming preferred.

· Recruiting, training, and motivating our staff and volunteers to support Glow Cultural Center’s mission and goals.

· Conducting in an ethical and professional manner, contributing to healthy, positive work culture, and effectively using organization procedures and methodologies to implement the mission objectives of the Glow Cultural Center.

Specific Duties:

· Work closely with the Program Director to build event strategy, define budget and event content and programming.

  • Coordinate all aspects of general event planning, including but not limited to, managing vendors & participants, event program, décor & signage, VIP guest management, event run book, revenue-expense records, gather event evaluations, etc.

· Create and curate promotional material and marketing communications across multiple channels, including print, digital, and social media platforms.

· Lead the execution of events & programs, ensuring alignment and clear communication among teams and develop detailed plans well in advance of the event date.

· Develop and maintain positive stakeholder relationships including timely follow-up and request disposition.

  • Effectively manage event staff and volunteers, including recruiting and conducting training sessions.

· Maintain and update project artifacts in a timely and consistent manner.

Ideal Experience & Competencies

· Bachelor's Degree preferred, but not required.

  • A minimum of one year of experience in event planning, volunteer management, social media management, marketing, or related field.
  • Highly organized, and detail-oriented with a strong ability to multitask and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrates flexible and efficient time management and ability to prioritize workload.
  • Willingness to learn, adapt and grow. You will be working with a small team, so teamwork and reciprocity are key to success.

· Working or skill-based volunteering experience with arts & cultural programs, budget management, and nonprofit & community organizations, are a plus.

  • Knowledge of Chinese history & culture, Chinese social media management, and teaching the Chinese language are a plus.

· Able to lift and carry loads (25-40 pounds) to support event preparation.

Pay: $20.00 - $22.00 per hour
