Job Title: Photographer/Videographer

Summary: In collaboration with colleagues inside the Office of Marketing & Communications, the Colleges Photographer/Videographer helps tell the story of Maryville College through high-quality videos, photographs, live-stream events, and other multimedia content for the Colleges digital properties and printed publications. This position is responsible for capturing and archiving the official images of the institution. The Photographer/Videographer works full-time hours, with some flexible shifts, including weekends and evenings, depending on when events are scheduled to take place.

Essential duties and responsibilities include the following:

Creating plans, scripts, storyboards, and schedules for photoshoots, videos, and instructional videos.

Shooting and editing photos and video for the Colleges website, social media pages, publications, and other marketing channels, as well as helping with live-stream events.

Capturing images at key campus events and providing portrait photography of College employees, groups, and select students.

Maintaining a digital library of image files so that it is searchable by colleagues and archived for future use.

Collaborating regularly on projects and initiatives with colleagues in the Marketing & Communications Office, as well as other departments on campus.

Managing multiple projects concurrently; setting and meeting deadlines.

Building and maintaining effective relationships with key campus clients, media contacts, and commercial videographers and photographers.

Performing other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position may require the supervision and management of student workers.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

Preferred Education and/or Experience: Bachelors degree from four-year college or university in electronic media, broadcasting, journalism, or related field, or the equivalent professional experience; and strong video and photography skills. Some work experience in electronic media, communications, and/or marketing is preferred.

Technical Skills:

Proficiency with Adobe Premier, After Effects, and Photoshop

Familiarity with other related Adobe Creative Suite products

Proficiency with Mac computers

Expertise in non-linear editing

Experience with both GoPro and drone equipment / shooting. Drone operating experience preferred

Proficiency with lighting related to photography and videography

Proficiency with digital cameras and studio equipment

Experience with website content, posting preferred

Language Skills:

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure documents. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Computer Skills:

In addition to the computer-related technical skills listed above, basic computer skills are required, which includes the use of the Microsoft Office suite of products.
