The Department of Economic Security, Division of Employment and Rehabilitation Services (DERS) strengthens Arizona communities by bridging and minimizing gaps to employment and independence.


We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated individual to join our team as a Performance Improvement Manager with the Rehabilitation Services Administration (RSA). This position is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, coordinating, and evaluating the effectiveness for projects with the direction of the RSA leadership.

Job Duties:
  • Research, review, and analyze various types of information to identify resource and performance gaps.
  • Creates informational resource materials, maintains updated resource materials, and develops systems for staff to access resource materials easily.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of resource materials.
  • Monitors project milestones and deliverables.
  • Gather information from Executive Leadership, field management, team members, and other departments to develop, coordinate, and deliver workshops and resource materials to Administration managers, supervisors, and staff at all levels.
  • Anticipate and plan for provision of resources and technical assistance in response to program initiatives, strategic objectives, and federal and state mandates.
  • Coordinate and facilitate activities such as presentations, simulations, and train the trainer events.
  • Provide support to field leadership to execute regional and office-level activities.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of rehabilitation programs for individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of lean management principles and practices.
  • Skills in analyzing information and implementing solutions.
  • Skills in maintaining professional relationships.
  • Effective and succinct oral and written communication.
  • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in dealing with cross-functional teams.
Pre-Employment Requirements:
  • Successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify), applicable to all newly hired State employees.
  • Successfully pass background and reference checks; employment is contingent upon completion of the above-mentioned process and the agency’s ability to reasonably accommodate any restrictions.
  • Travel will be required for State business. Employees who drive on state business must complete any required driver training (see Arizona Administrative Code R2-10-207.12.) AND have an acceptable driving record in accordance with DES Fleet Management- Safety Program policy and procedures (DES 1-07-26 & DES 1-07-26-01). Employees may be required to use their own transportation as well as maintaining valid motor vehicle insurance and current Arizona vehicle registration; however, mileage will be reimbursed.

Retirement:

State employees are required to participate in the Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS), the State sponsored retirement contribution plan and the Long-Term Disability (LTD) program after a 27-week waiting period. The ASRS defined benefit plan provides for life-long income upon retirement. You will also have the option to participate in a voluntary deferred compensation program to take advantage of tax-deferred retirement investments.
