Job description

Ronald McDonald House Charities (RMHC) is a place of care and comfort for families whose children are hospitalized or receiving treatment in the area. The on-site Weekend Relief person is responsible to oversee and coordinate daily operations at the Ronald McDonald House for a specified period of time in a manner consistent with the mission, policies and purpose of RMHC Maine. Responsibilities include checking in new families, supporting guest families, cleaning, restocking supplies, opening and closing procedures each day, answering phones, and taking referrals from the hospital. Weekend staff are responsible for handling emergencies that arise during their shift with the support of on-call staff. Weekend staff cover shifts on various weekends throughout each month (1-2 weekends a month). Most shifts are 24-hour shifts, with occasional extended shifts. Some shorter shifts may be needed depending on volunteer coverage. Staff may sleep overnight during 24-hour shifts in the overnight suite; however, staff must respond to any needs from RMHC guests throughout the night (i.e., families locked out of their room, alarms, etc.) Additional opportunities for shift coverage in the evenings and for overnight on weekdays are available if the candidate's schedule allows.
