The Opportunity
The Part-Time Bookkeeper is responsible for entering data from bank and brokerage records to assist with the preparation of fiduciary accounting for trusts and estates. Successful performance in this position is dependent on understanding basic accounting and financial principles, and accurately and quickly entering data from financial records into fiduciary accounting software. Provides fiduciary/court accounting services for banks, law firms, family offices and individuals throughout the United States.
Responsibilities:
  • Review and interpret source data (e.g., bank statements, brokerage statements, checking accounts) in order to determine proper treatment for accounting purposes.
  • Review of inputed information into fiduciary accounting software following detailed instructions provided by the senior accountants.
  • Reconcile securities and cash balance positions from bank statements.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting required; Master’s degree in taxation or equivalent a plus.
  • Ability to work in a team environment, supervise staff and lead projects.
  • Proficient with a computer software packages and platforms including Microsoft Office Suite, Tax software, ProSystems and CCH.
  • Ability to work additional hours as needed.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Basic understanding of accounting concepts.
  • Basic understanding of investments (stocks, bonds, etc.)
  • Good client interaction skills
