Position Description

Metro Nashville Public Health Department is seeking a passionate and dynamic Office Support Representative Senior to join our Women, Infants and Children (WIC) team. The WIC program, which serves over 19,000 individuals within Davidson County, offers a broad range of innovative nutrition services to improve the health and well-being of vulnerable families. WIC participants receive vital nutrition education, breastfeeding support, and healthy food benefits from compassionate and culturally competent staff. The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent customer service skills and clerical/administrative experience. This full-time position will be in-person and limited to weekdays only. MPHD offers an excellent benefits package, and 12 paid holidays. Bilingual applicants are encouraged to apply.

Typical Duties

  • Serves as first responder to answering phone lines, directing calls as needed.
  • Performs filing and clerical tasks.
  • Performs participant screening and processes documents for WIC visits. Keys pertinent data into computer system daily.
  • Answers telephone calls, faxes, and emails daily and documents all necessary transactions.
  • Implements procedures and instructions according to the TNWIC manual and Metro Public Health Department directives.
  • Attends staff meetings regularly, staying abreast of program changes and processes.
  • Encourages participation in the WIC Program and promotes breastfeeding to all participants.
  • Makes referrals to other agencies as needed.
  • Completes Voter Declination Registrations and other necessary forms and retains documents according to policies.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of MPHD mission and Strategic Plan.

Minimum Qualifications

High School Diploma
Three (3) years of clerical/administrative experience.
Must be flexible to work 1-2 evenings a month for late WIC clinic.

Candidates with accreditations earned in a foreign institute are encouraged to apply, however at the present time MPHD is not sponsoring individuals through any of the US Governments employment-based immigration programs.
