Position Overview

The Illinois Department of Corrections (DOC) Parole Division is seeking an individual to serve as office support for the Chatham Parole Office. We are seeking an organized and detail-oriented person with the ability to handle a fast-paced environment to join our team. The ideal candidate will also need to be able to communicate effectively verbally, electronically, and in writing with both internal and external stakeholders. Job Responsibilities

  • Composes and keyboards complex and varied correspondence, memoranda, and documents for for the Parole Supervisor(s) of an assigned office.
  • Prepares and maintains complex, highly specialized records and reports, including reports of personnel, professional and administrative matters that include sociological, medical, and legal terminology.
  • Assists with timekeeping duties by submitting bi-monthly time statements.
  • Gathers and collects sociological, psychological and psychiatric reports and correspondence.
  • Responds to inquiries form the general public, parole agents, management, and vendors.
  • Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of high school and two (2) years of office experience.
  • Requires the ability to keyboard accurately at 45 words per minute.

Conditions of Employment

  • Requires ability to pass the Illinois Department of Corrections background check.
  • Requires ability to pass a drug screen. On January 1, 2020, the Cannabis Regulation and Tax Act made it legal for residents over the age of 21 to produce, consume and sell cannabis in Illinois. Please note that although the law has changed, the Department will continue to enforce the Department’s zero tolerance Drug Testing policy. The use of unauthorized drugs, including cannabis, by an employee, regardless of the position held is prohibited.
