Job Summary:

This position is for a Network Engineer who will provide operational support for HP Hood’s network environment. The Network Engineer will work as part of a team responsible for HP Hood’s Wide Area Network and Local Area Networks at all HP Hood sites. You will monitor the network to ensure network availability to all system users and perform necessary maintenance to support network availability and resiliency. This is a Hybrid position and will require being onsite in our Lynnfield HQ at least 3 days per week. Some travel may be required to support remote sites; < 10% expected. Some night/weekend/off-hour support is expected.

Services supported include: WiFi, switches, firewalls, remote access VPN, phone systems, telco circuits, SD-WAN, and connectivity to HP Hood’s Cloud environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Design, testing and operational support of network solutions; technologies include Cisco routers and switches, Dell & Aruba switches, AT&T MPLS / Netbond circuits, Extreme Wireless LAN Controllers, Forcepoint firewalls, VeloCloud SD-WAN, WhatsUp monitoring, and PTRG.
  • Assist to identify and resolve network outages in a timely manner.
  • Monitoring, installation, support of voice and data circuits.
  • Assist in the planning, execution and completion of Network Engineering projects as needed.
  • Work in a team environment to provide network solutions in support of HP Hood’s business projects
  • Working in a cross-functional manner across server, storage and database technologies to ensure network solutions integrate well across all infrastructure components
  • Facilitate implementation of network changes across HP Hood with minimal business disruption

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a similar technical field preferred or commensurate experience
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in a support role as a Network Engineer

Skills and Competencies:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of TCP/IP, sub-netting, VLANs, and IP routing
  • Experience supporting WAN connectivity
  • Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, good interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work in a team environment
  • Ability to communicate with varied audiences.
  • Experience assembling, maintaining, and upgrading computer hardware and peripherals
