Non-exhaustive list of responsibilities:

  • Daily facility throughput at 20 automotive facilities. (The facilities will be split between this position and the current Mgr Ramp Operations incumbent, so each manager will lead 10 facilities.) Facility throughput includes monitoring inbound vs capacity for unload and lot capacity. Troubleshooting any location where the pipeline exceeds capacity which includes working with local operations, service design, the commercial team, customers and the trucking community.
  • Capacity reviews and capital operational review/approval: Review capacity and develop operational plans to handle organic growth inside of the auto business. Determine where we can create additional capacity through operational efficiency and resources vs capital.
  • New Business Reviews: Review needs for new facility capacity and or operational plans as we bring in new volume.
  • Technology development responsibilities for the auto franchise: Serve as subject matter expert with our technology team when developing new technology for our automotive franchise. We are looking to capitalize technology for our operations system as well as claims.
  • Service partner quality review: Review service received vs contractual agreement. Review any gaps and determine how to hold the service provider accountable to meeting expectations for railcar movement, unloading, loading, lot management, and quality expectations.
  • Service partner bid requirements: Work with sourcing to develop language for what is needed in the contract for service partners to hit our operational needs.
  • Service partner contracts management: Serve as the contact to keep service partners compliant with our system process rules for ERail safe, CAT, CARS, and Avetta.
  • Expense management/reduction at facilities: Review resources inside the facility and make sure we are right-sized and contracts are adjusted. Manage claims for each facility and work with the service partners to take action to protect BNSF from claims.
  • Vendor leases at facilities: We have roughly 50 leases across the system. We have to manage who is on the lease and why. This position will hold the decision-making capability for 10 facilities
  • Customer reviews: Participate in customer reviews as the operations SME
  • Haulaway carrier project management: Review process and adherence to parking strategies to reduce dwell and save cost. Manage individual trucker behavior improvement processes.


Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevent work experience
  • Minimum 5 years railroad automotive facility management
  • Must have experience with Autotrack, TSS, demonstrated automotive claims reduction experience, and demonstrated automotive unloading/loading safety process experience
  • Advanced knowledge of AAR rail unload/loading facility rules
