  • This position qualifies for an additional $4,000 Relocation Bonus when the successful candidate agrees to relocate to the Ellsworth County area within three months of acceptance. This Workplace Incentive is funded by the Northwest Kansas Economic Innovation Center and distributed by Ellsworth County Economic Development.

Schedule:
Day Shift (3 days/week)

6:00am-6:00pm

Duties Responsibilities:
  • Helps the department, hospital, and profession with public relations by helping with health fairs, giving direction, answering questions, and assisting with programs for public visitors, patient’s families, physicians, etc.
  • Assists with training new Medical Laboratory Technicians and Lab Assistants for the department.
  • Supervision of other Lab personnel less than four at one time.
  • Assists Laboratory Management with budget reports by occasional data collecting and entry.
  • Correlates laboratory tests with disease processes and understands basic physiology, recognizing appropriate test selection and abnormal test results.
  • Establishes and maintains communication within the hospital. Communicates test results, reference ranges, and specimen requirements to authorized sources. Develops relationships with professional affiliations and others as is appropriate.
  • Helps Laboratory Management oversee new treatment procedures and related protocol.
  • Encourages the introduction and demonstration of new techniques, equipment, etc. for overall improvement of the department.
  • Works to help maintain departmental facilities, equipment, supplies and materials in a condition to promote efficiency, health, comfort, and safety of patients, visitors, and staff.
  • Answers patient questions and explains procedures.
  • Performs all procedures that the department provides as ordered by a physician. (i.e. specimen collection and processing)
  • Completes results and paperwork as required by the profession and the department as needed.
  • Performs office filing and record maintenance as needed.
  • Participates in patient care review as needed.
  • Provides educational in-services for the department and hospital as per Laboratory Management deems necessary.
  • Assists in inventory control and ordering supplies.
  • Selects, operates, and helps maintain equipment in efficient operating order; performs preventative maintenance on a regularly scheduled basis; contacts appropriate channels for needed service.
  • Maintains orderliness and cleanliness of work area.
  • Enhances professional growth and development through participation in educational programs, current literature, in-service meetings, and workshops.
  • Assists Laboratory Management with departmental scheduling as needed.
  • Report QC within CLIA guidelines
  • Reports accurate test results within turn-around-time limits.
  • Maintains proficiency testing and competency level for all departments of laboratory.
  • Maintains equipment properly.
  • Demonstrates trouble shooting ability
Experience Skills Preferred:
  • Graduate of an accredited bachelor’s program or equivalent.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Laboratory Technologist is preferred.
  • Experience including internship in an approved program equates more than 6 months experience.
  • MT (ASCP) or equivalent
  • CPR
  • Continuing education required
