Solstice Health & Wellness is an outpatient addiction treatment program located in Sarasota, FL. The program offers a suite of integrated therapeutic interventions and support services including outpatient withdrawal management, medication for addiction treatment, mental health management, individual and group counseling, coaching, and primary care. Our goal is to enhance the physical, mental, and social well-being of patients and their families by integrating essential healthcare services, delivered in a safe and compassionate manner – all under one roof.

We are actively seeking a qualified Medical Assistant with exceptional leadership qualities responsible for the delivery of medical care and practice management.

Responsibilities

• Participate in daily pre-shift huddles
• Assist patients with registration, scheduling, pre/post-visit instructions, and payment processing
• Obtain, report and document patient vitals, histories, medications, allergies, and other relevant data in accordance with workflow and scope of practice standards
• Prepare patients for the physician’s care including equipment and supplies for procedure or examination
• Assist with examinations or treatments such as random call backs, assist with monthly IM and SubQ injections, wound dressings, ear lavage, EKGs, spirometry, and audiometry
• Perform venipuncture, administer injections, insert, monitor and remove intravenous catheters
• Collect routine laboratory specimens, perform basic laboratory procedures, enter lab orders, and track lab results
• Provide patient education, procedure explanation, and obtain consent appropriately
• Give out handouts and educational brochures
• Collaborate and support the patient’s self-efficacy in managing their treatment plan
• Assist patients with access to external services in compliance with confidentiality and privacy practice
• Observe patients during self-administering of medication
• Verify controlled medication prescription through E-FORSCE
• Enter medication refill orders per established policies and procedures
• Conduct patient follow up calls
• Correctly document all patient interactions and procedures in the patient chart (and logs books if applicable)
• Stock exam, laboratory, and supply rooms
• Clean exam rooms between patients and other common areas as needed
• Adhere to all policies, procedures. protocols, employee handbooks, and assist with updates when needed
• Adhere to attendance, punctuality, and other employee policies as recorded in the employee handbook
• Adhere to DEA, OSHA, CLIA, HIPAA, 42 CFR and other regulatory compliance
• Assist with practice management, quality assurance, and activities
• Serve as liaison between the patient and external providers to ensure coordination of care in compliance with confidentiality and privacy practice
• Perform all duties diligently and efficiently
• Strive to achieve a higher level of expertise through training and practice experience
• Always look for duties to perform or offer help to your team members during slow periods. If in doubt, ask your supervisors
• Provide the highest quality healthcare services and treat all patients with respect, dignity and compassion
• Maintain restricted areas safe by safeguarding keys and computer system passwords
• Assist with inventory and equipment maintenance
• Monitor and follow-up on shredding service, fire-extinguisher, and sharps container change out
• Assist in creating marketing materials, patient recruitment campaigns, and community outreach
• Attend scheduled staff activities, trainings, and meetings
• Participate in quality assurance/improvement initiatives and activities

Qualifications

• Current and valid medical assistant (CMA or RMA)
• Phlebotomy and/or IV starting skills: One year (Preferred)
• Experience with coding, billing, collecting, and related activities (Preferred)
• Experience with Athena EMR a plus
• Self-starter, organized, and able to work independently with minimal supervision
• Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills
• Excellent customer service, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills
• Positive attitude and ability to work collaboratively with patients and staff
• Knowledge of community resources; ability to network and build strong relationships with community organizations
