GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

The Center for Student Success at Middlesex College will implement an enhanced holistic student support model to focus on and improve student retention; assist students with achieving career and transfer goals; and guide students to completion and graduation. The Manager of Student Success Services oversees the general functions of the Student Success Center to ensure student success, including all advising and retention initiatives, new student onboarding and career and transfer pathway activities.


SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:
  • Assists with providing leadership, supervision, and training to Student Success Center staff.
  • Oversees the day-to-day functions of the Student Success Center including staff scheduling, appointment management, e-mail, text, and phone communications.
  • Plans and implements activities to support the College’s Strategic Plan and Guided Pathways initiative.
  • Manages cohort registration initiatives for special populations on campus including, but not limited to the following: Athletics, Student Life & Clubs, Dental Hygiene, Nursing, Radiography, CCOG Grant recipients, and high school student groups.
  • Assists with the planning of New Student Orientation events and all functions related to new student onboarding.
  • Collaborates with Enrollment Services to resolve student issues, maintain open communication, and provide training and updates as needed.
  • Works closely with Academic Deans and Department Chairs to resolve student issues and appeals.
  • Manages the verification of non-compliance and academic status reports.
  • Assists with development, implementation, and training of advising-related processes, College placement policies, student records maintenance, and other related issues.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with four-year college and university transfer partners
  • Coordinate career services activities including initiatives to support career exploration and education and the development of job search skills and strategies.
  • Organize and manage transfer and career related events, fairs and workshops
  • Collects and interprets data, creates reports, and assists with program evaluation and college-wide assessment initiatives.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the departmental webpage and the development of departmental publications.
  • Participates in professional development workshops, webinars, trainings or conferences to stay current on best practices on student-center trends, academic and transfer advising, and policy initiatives related to community college students.
  • Manages confidential information in accordance with FERPA.
  • Organizes and conducts on- and off-campus presentations, workshops, and other forms of outreach.
  • Assumes the duties of the Director if absent.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree;
  • Three (3) years of related experience in academic advising and/or career services;
  • Knowledge of Colleague (Ellucian) computer system or a similar platform;
  • Strong computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office;
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment, with demonstrated multitasking and problem-solving skills;
  • Ability to work independently and within a team-oriented setting, use discretion, and apply judgement; and
  • Ability to work with diverse groups.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Master's degree; and
  • Strong communication, organizational, interpersonal, written, and verbal skills.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required:

  • Hearing: Perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication, and to make the discrimination in sound.
  • Mental Acuity: Ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes.
  • Speaking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including the ability to convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately and concisely.
  • Talking: Expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word including those activities in which they must convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly, or quickly.
  • Visual Acuity: Have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and figures; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; and/or extensive reading.

: Monday – Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
